Like the title says, I have LFD Off Road crossbars on my 2020 GX460 and need a 16 cubic foot or larger top box such as Thule, Yakima and et al. that will work with the narrow opening for the box clamps.

Anyone have anything that they are sure will work?

If you have the two bars then I'd think each and every box out there would be a perfect fit. Choose what you need and you should be good.

No recommendations here. Just a question. Do you have just 2 cross bars? Do you ever wish you got 3 or 4?

Most boxes that I'm seeing have a wider than 19" left to right spread on the bar clamps...

I primarily bought the bars for a roof top box so more bars are not needed. I may get the wind deflector to put on them when I'm not using the box cause they are noisy over 50 mph vs. no bars.

I believe most any box should work. Just get the dim's from the manufacturer and see if it works for what you want to put in it.
Car toppers are designed to be as universal as possible in mounting.
Worst case if it doesn't work, you return it!

If you find you're restricted by the width/spacing of the clamps that come with most of the cargo boxes, Thule makes a kit to replace the clamps with a t-slot stud. I'm not sure if the supplied studs would work with your crossbars but more than likely you could find something that will work.

I'm thinking to do this when mounting a Thule box onto my Prinsu rack, possibly with a standoff to keep from having to remove a bunch of crossbars since all of the boxes seem to have a recessed mounting area making mounting to a flat rack tricky.

I had to modify the U-brackets. I went and got longer SAE brackets and bent the U to narrow the distance in order to fit around the LFD bars and yet go into the existing mounting holes for the carrier. I had to take off the fairing to get a better fit with regards to the support. I run five LFD bars to give me more mounting options for accessories. In turn it provides more support for the carrier.

@Tquiroz Thanks for the input on the box, wish someone near me sold them so I could try it out on the bars instead of having to order one.

Do you have the wind deflector on your LFD Bars? Mine make a lot of noise vs. none... I'll probably end up taking them off when not using them with the box.

I have the wind deflector and it does make some bit of noise without it. I recently added a light bar to the deflector and will need to rethink my mounting strategy when I use the box in the future.

Just to clarify, the U-brackets that came with the box were used for the thinner part of the bars. I used the longer, modified U-brackets on the thicker portion of the bars.

Search for a used Yakima Rocketbox. Mine has 11" between the mounts. But the overall box is narrow, so the opening would be mid-roof as well. But they'd definitely fit in that space on your LFD bars.

I have the Yakima CBX 18 for my load bars and it is HUGE and fits with the low clearance 470 midguard load bars on my 460. The width of the mounts outside to outside is 21"
