Where did you ground your aux battery?
Ground for the battery goes through the on/off switch for the winch and from there to a factory ground on top of the block.

Not the prettiest but I know it's good. Also have a ground running from the on/off switch to the frame. The winch ground is on one side and the battery/frame/block ground tie together on the other side of the switch.

I love how on HC you were saying "Man, I need a lift" then you had one installed a week later. Love the drive you have!!

Offer still stands on the bushings. Buy the tool and bring your truck over, we can knock that out in a few hours.
Absolutely. I was trying not to overbuild but the 30mm spacers weren't cutting it. Ill give you a call and set it up. Maybe somebody local has a bushing tool?

I blame @jimsmith1370 as the enabler. I had plenty of live suspension porn watching him from behind on HC with that new bumper. After Watching the suspension cycle through the trail and him describe the same issues I was having before he installed OME springs I knew I was going to order them.

@Green Hell Mustang had the tool to do the bushings on his truck. If the tool isn't worn out yet maybe you could borrow it from him!

Here something else Ive been working on. I've been wanting to add much needed light to the rear lift gate. I thought about it for a few months on how to mount them and what light to use. Also I wanted to do something different but also keep it OEM looking.

I had several solo 12v LEDs left over from other projects. A little solder and hot glue...

I forgot to take pictures last night, So I'm curious to see how bright it is.

We had the same discussion at Relic Run that the springs would be dramatically better than the soft and worn OEM springs.

I'm interested in the light output from the solo LED's. Anything is better than no light on the tailgate but I don't think the solo LED's will be that bright. I picked up a interior cabin light and mounted it beside the handle on the lift gate. I installed a bright warm white LED panel. It provides the perfect amount of light, not too bright and not too dim. I will be building some rock lights for the truck with COB LED's soon.

I don't think anybody advised against different springs. I asked everyone. Even random strangers in other 80's.

I'm interested to see the output also. I've been using a pair of magnetic solo leds so this has to be better. I have no $ tied up in it so far, just a little time. If it's bright enough to cook a hotdog on the tail gate with out a head lamp then it's success.

Don't discount a solo LED. Ever see a 5w CREE?
I have seen them. Depending on how this turns out I was thinking about possibly upgrading to something better.

I expect to see you wire up all the constellations in the night's sky next.

Awesome job BTW!

Yes but there is a massive difference between a 5W high power CREE LED and a traditional 5W LED. I've built two mountain bike LED lights for night riding using CREE 3W LED's, P4 bin for the helmet and Q5 bin for the handlebar, with a fully dimmable Fatman boost converter. The LED's that Austin used appear to be traditional 5W LED's since there are no heatsinks. If they are 5W high power CREE LED's without heatsinks, then I hope he doesn't leave the lights on for too long otherwise the plastic would melt.

Just as I suspected, I found brass shavings. So after 3 months since knuckle service, back in to replace the passenger side Brass spindle bushing yesterday.

Also found the beginnings of a soupy mess.

In March I used Marlin inner seals from the kit I ordered. I've read the mixed reviews about how they fail. My gut says it was most likely failing because of the extra play in the axle shaft bc of the worn bushing. Saying that I went ahead and put a OEM Toyota inner seal in.

Because of my cruiser OCD from the forum, anything I do to one side I have to do to the other. After 252k, I'm curious what the wear of the bushing is on the drivers side. Update to come on that. My parents are flying in tomorrow so it may be Sunday night before I get to look into the driver knuckle.

Birfields and wheels bearings repacked, all bolts re-torqued to Toyota Spec, and my red knuckles cleaned up nicely.

After a drive this afternoon to try to duplicate the vibration and noise , I'm confident my issue has been resolved.

Until next time.

Brit had heavy call last week so Me and Isla left July 2 to go camping for a day or two. 8 days and 1,300 miles, I made it back to Chapel Hill last night. 80 did awesome with only an ABS light as the only issue.

The Plan was to head towards Uwarrie, but I passed Uwarrie, went towards Charlotte, into North Georgia, and into Alabama. The week was several days of wondering small towns, catching up with old friends/family, ranger roads, historic sites and state parks. Pretty Much the ultimate dad trip making memories with Isla. Baby 2 will be here in 4 weeks so it was good to take one last adventure together.

Great Smokey Mountains, Chattahoochee National Forest, Talladega National Forrest, Bankhead National Forrest were a few of the places I went. Tons of pictures and a lifetime of memories.

Since I ended up a few hours from home, we stopped and by to let Isla see the grandparents. Ended up being more eventful than planned. Bad storm blew through and knocked power out on the 4th for almost a day. I ended up plugging up the fridge to my 80's Inverter to run the fridge in the Kitchen.

Dad picked up a new GX last year. I spent a day riding around in it spoiled. I made a deal I would take it off his hands at 100k. Its a 2016 and already has 46k, so it may not take long. He's wanting to upgrade to a 200 series. Didn't get a good photo but snapped this going to pick up a generator.

Stopped here one day and had lunch here in Georgia Somewhere. Log Blockhouse built in 1793. I'm a sucker for old buildings

Trip was cut short due to Brit needing me to return. 449 Highway miles yesterday. Average speed was between 65-70 mph. I filled up right before I got home. 15.2 MPG for the day.:bounce::clap: Its amazing what cruise control and a light foot can do.

until next time

Not many updates since I have a newborn at home. During the downtime I sent my front seat belts off to have the webbing replaced and the retractors tightened. Sent the unused 3rd row belts too so the straps could be moved to the front for a perfect OEM match. Update to come.

Congrats for sure!!!

But back to tech ;). Who are you using for the seatbelt work? Mine will be needing new or repurposed webbing as well as i have that same edge fray. Thanks.
