Do you have a fully functioning GPS as well?

GPS still 100% working.

Just realize that when you throw the switch its turning off the GPS tracking. So when you switch from video back to GPS it takes a moment to figure out its current position.

The Prestigious Mod works great in my 2013. Simply press - - + + on the steering wheel to get the Nav buypass. The DVD plays on the front without any special commands or buttons pressed. Overall Very pleased!

Check this out:

A company called Prestigious Society has a module that will override the navigation functions while you are driving.

This is a Toyota and Lexus specific unit.

Here is their website:
Prestigious Society - GPS Navigation Override for Lexus and Toyota

And brochure:
http://www.prestigioussociety.com/pdfpage/Toyota%20Navigation%20and%20Video%20Override%20Brochure.pdf

I am in contact with them now to find out about their unit for us 200-series owners, but it looks promising.

I will let everyone know what I find out from them.

I'm talking to them about possibly setting up a group buy option for us when the unit is available, but it should be soon.

This is great news, if all goes well!

Thanks for input. Just ordered one

Actually here at our factory we do it the low tech way - (this is for the head units found in the VX and VXR with the radio/nav/and AC controls on the screen.

1. Cut the yellow wire and ground it out.
2. Cut the purple wire and install a two position switch.

If you want DVD-video turn the switch off and you can view the screen in the center console and in the rear if you installed in the head rest.

If you need to see the NAV turn it back on - DVD will still produce the sound but no video. When your done with the NAV throw the switch back to OFF click Audio then the DVD-Video button and you can go back to watching your video.

cost - around $4ish or 15AED

Has this been done on a US model?

What am I missing here? I get the mods being discussed and want to enable front video and Navi while underway, but I can't even get a DVD to play on the front screen while sitting in (PARK) in my new '13. Can someone help? Is it a dumb setting somewhere I haven't found?

I suspect it may be a bit different between my 2009 and your 2013 but I would try and put the handbrake on as well to enable the front display when parked. I'm pretty sure that's what is required in mine before it will give me the "picture" option to turn on the front display.

....Gee, don't I feel dumb for having to ask.

Don't feel dumb. Even the dealer told me that it's IMPOSSIBLE to play the video on the front Nav of a 2013 Land Cruiser. To quote, "Toyota physically wired the truck not to do so, even in park w/ the hand brake on."

So, thanks for asking/sharing. I'm still waiting to find the right '13, but it sounds like this prestigious navi/video unit will allow video playback in the front. Very encouraging.

Thanks for the good info.

I assume this is the final word on watching video on viewing video on the front screen. I purchased my wife a 2017 LC and she was asking about it. I had purchased the lock pick product for prior fords.

It plays on the front screen fine if in park and the hand brake is on. This thread is about a device that lets it play on the front screen in all modes...park, drive, etc.

Markuson, I know. That is what I am looking for. A device like the lock pick so a DVD can play in front while the vehicle is moving. I saw info above that they wiring simply dies not permit that and I was asking if that was the final word or if people have been able to get DVD's to play in front while the vehicle is moving and what device they used to do that. I have three kids and one usually occupies the passenger seat.

This was the information I was questioning.

@MisterScott

Here's the website that solved my issues with the "inter-locks." Took some time install, but I did all myself and the directions are very good.

Prestigious Society » Navigation and Video Enhancement Module » Prestigious Society

Good info to reference...Prestigious Society NAV Override Install

It does require user input to "unlock" select play/or input Nav Dest and then "unlock" to get your GPS going again. Once video has started, with the user input to "unlock" [Vol Dn, Vol Dn, Vol Up, Vol UP] (same 4 button sequence used to unlock/lock the interconnect) it will continue to play even after "locking" or going back to factory setting.

Hope this helps.

Where can you get one?

I don't think the links for this company are working any longer. Did they close shop?
