Toyota is not going to install it. They claimed it was "illegal" to disengage the seat belt warning which is absoutely false and ridiculous.

Here are a few pics of my install. I was bored this morning so I decided to do it.

I am having a new rear and front cameras installed in a week, so I was going to have them do it, but figured what the hell.

Here is where my button in temporarily:

And proof it works:
(NOTICE: out of all the pics showing the speedometer, mine is the fastest!! Plus showing the Xmen Cartoon.....AWESOME!)

Gosh that GPS plus is a pain in the arse!

Kudos to whoever took those pics, they did a great job! Too bad they are a mystery! :flipoff2:

I have a pic at 135 that I posted in another thread, but deleted it. This was before the nav override install, however.

Ok, contest over...I don't want anyone getting killed over this.

Mitch, can you please sticky this thread?

And change the title to "NAVIGATION/DVD OVERRIDE WORKS!"

Thanks

Not for 2010 lx570 model!

Talked to them today and the bad news is that the NAV changed for 2010 and they are having to redesign for the 2010 model, said they would let me know when and if they come up with a fix.

Really? This is the first I'm hearing of a new nav unit. I wonder what's new about it! Probably similar to the Lexus model with built-in hard drive and that Toyota "on star" system.

Just found this forum today and have already placed my ortder today for the Nav Override. Thanks to you guys for putting this up!

Guys, Thanks for this find. Got mine installed today and works great. Local Shop only charged me $35.00 to put it in b/c they thought it was such a cool mod.

Great thread.

So what actually happens when you press one of those buttons? If you press NAV does it send a signal to trick the Toyota Navigation into thinking the car is in Park?

I'm about to order this for my 2009. Any other ideas on a clean, convenient location to mount those buttons?

Thanks.

I installed this unit and it works perfect...easy to install...hardest part of the whole install is taking the trim pieces off without scratching them...had a few questions when I read the directions, called the company and they were more than willing to help...good luck.

Ordered. :D

jetstream,

I have had mine for the past year or so and not a single issue. You will not be disappointed.

Yup, it changed for 2010. Improved resolution and a few other things. I can't find the link but it was on cars.com or edmunds or something like that

Actually here at our factory we do it the low tech way - (this is for the head units found in the VX and VXR with the radio/nav/and AC controls on the screen.

1. Cut the yellow wire and ground it out.
2. Cut the purple wire and install a two position switch.

If you want DVD-video turn the switch off and you can view the screen in the center console and in the rear if you installed in the head rest.

If you need to see the NAV turn it back on - DVD will still produce the sound but no video. When your done with the NAV throw the switch back to OFF click Audio then the DVD-Video button and you can go back to watching your video.

cost - around $4ish or 15AED
