Name this part trivia

Michael and I are sitting here trying to figure out what this part is. Came from the engine side firewall of a August 78 fj40.

I'm thinking some sort of emmision switch?

Carb cooling fan bracket. I think.

I dont recall that part on my 77 fj40, but it doesnt have the carb cooling fan.

Post #12 shows that piece on the firewall right below the opening that the carb fan pulls air through.
