After the blasting and cleaning, I got the bad seal out. And worst, both bearings for the winch worm are really in bad shape.

Ouch. Looks like some water got in and did what it did. I got water in my winch too and wonder where it came from.. everything should be tight and sealed, except the output shaft seal. Condensation?

After the cleanup, it was evident that the oil seal had a dent and probably caused the leak. There were two shims in the front retainer and another two on the rear seal retainer. This is to adjust the compression for both worm gear bearings and set the play.

I think the water came through the the main shaft seal and probably though the worm gear seal.

Seals and bearings, yes. And probably bushings too. Others, I'll check. Which particular part do you need?

Finally got everything apart and best is to change the main shaft seal too.

The roller bearings just came off the cage.

After a long weekend and having time with the family, the winch is ready for assemling.

I have sent the winch roller and the winch end bracket for machining the grease nipple to the machine shop. Might be a day or two before it is done.

Meanwhile, I have prepared the front and rear brackets for assembly.
