My wife: A brand new 4Runner Limited or a 3 year old 200?

I think all the 4th Gens went though the caliper issue. I found that regular greasing and brake fluid changes (to reduce moisture) helped a bit. Thankfully the 5th gen design is a bit better, and I've never of a frozen caliper issue with the 200s. I'd still probably take a new 4.7 4runner with crappy calipers over the 4.0 current design. the V8 4th gen was a great vehicle.

The 4G 4R is a great model year. @M1911 What kind of mpg did your V8 4R get?

Some of the 4R had issues with gasket failures on the V6 engines as well.

I tried looking for a 4G 4R Limited, but all the ones I saw here locally had rust, well over 120k+ miles, and seemed like auctions from NY. Gave up and got a LX instead.

I got about 18mpg in my 03 V8. The 03-04 V6 also only had a 4 spd tranny along with head gasket issues. Some of the later models had a scattering of AIP issues just like most Toyotas.

About 15 in the city and maybe 17 on the highway. LC200 is worse in the city and equal or a touch better on the highway.

UPDATE: We were vacationing in FL and were driving through Miami yesterday on the way back to the airport. Had an extra hour so we swung into Lexus Pembroke Springs and looked at an RX350. An hour later we walked out the door a proud owner of this bad boy. They are shipping it to Texas and it will be here this weekend. These are slick crossovers!

It’s not April 1st...

LOL. Quite a step down, eh? Makes sense though, as it's more of a one or two person size driving machine. For sure my wife would not dig driving a huge vehicle like latest iteration 4 Runner or Cruiser.

Jeesus, what's with the new Lexus grilles? Those things are hideous!

My only aversion to this car was the grill. But hey it's her car. It's actually more roomy than her RRS. Wasn't but a few $ thousand less than a GX. But I think she ultimately wanted something that was barely an SUV and more sports car.

Boy, I’m sure glad 6 pages of great input from this forum helped you choose between a Land Cruiser and a 4Runner...

:meh:-<But oh well.
Enjoy your new RX350, which is based on the Highlander...

Most people think our 200’s are Highlanders anyway... :hillbilly:

I think for mommy duty this seems a reasonable choice. Easier in easier out rear hatch for the many purses and bags.

Wait. What???? You mean they're not? That's what the dealer showed me when I asked to drive a LC. He said "they are the same car, drive the same, have the same capabilities but has Lexus like quality" Idiots. Where do they get these guys.

The RX will fit in far better into the mall. With the turning radius of a cruise ship, it is a bit difficult to maneuver into the "compact car" slots in front of Nordstroms, but you can always take up two spots. On a more serious note, the RX is decent quality and will run for many years. In this case, "off-road" means the parking lot at the soccer field.

AW MAN.......that means one less mint condition 200 series for the used car lots in 3 years. And that means one less one for when someone wants a solid trail rig 10-15 years from now on.

Wow! Well, good for her. I don’t think she’ll be disappointed. That’s a hell of vehicle.

Honestly, she was probably never going to be happy with a 4R.

LOL, much better option than the 4Runner, but the end of this thread is cracking me up. It’s like the Red Wedding at the end of Season 3 of GoT! It’s ok that it turned out completely different than you expected folks.
