Bought the Q78s a month or so ago and put them on last week. Stock suspsension, no lift, tight fit. I plan on running some metal tech fenders in the front. I don't plan on running any lift springs. I'll probably re-locate the shackle hanger for a nice shackle angle and run longer than stock shackles for good droop. Being a soft top I want this thing to fit in the garage. This pic was just after I unloaded the x-mas tree today. I love the looks I get driving this thing, especially with the near 36" tires on it.

I bought the wheels and tires used off Juttyshabango here on mud. The wheels are FJ60 wheels blasted and painted black. The tires are swamper TSL Q78 15s, which is about 35.5" or so by 11". Owyhee Jackass runs them on his FJ45 lwb on FJ60 wheels as well. Here's a pic of his tire/wheel.

I don't have many other pics (they were on my laptop and the HD died).

very nice, indeed! i've heard lots of comments about bias ply tires (the old radial vs. bias debate), but are they really that bad or are they tolerable in your opinion?
i'm interested in setting up my machine with Q78's as well. thanks.

wow...i like the looks of that thing without the top on it...looks awesome!

They're that bad but tolerable. My troopie is a former Chilean army truck. It needs power steering, some more caster and it will drive a lot better than it does now. I've been in Dan's (Owyhee JackAss) pickup with them on it and it rode much better than my troopie does. The tires are loud and bumpy but they get less bumpy as they warm up. To use it as a daily driver I'd want the drive to be 10 miles or less personally. It's hard to find many tires in that size range though so you take what you can get. HTH.

thanks ken, it does help. the size and pattern of the tires are perfect and the ride qualities are a fair trade-off it seems. did you have a hard time registering it? not that i will go out and look for a similar vehicle--though i dream of it!

No, it had a CA title when I got it. I registered it in Idaho no problems. Still need to register it here, but I'll register it as an antique and shouldn't have any issues.

Do you have more pics?... very nice truck!.
