Taking a trip out to NM this April. Need to get on-board water taken care of. Thinking this tank against the front wall. Input?
25 Gallon Marine Water & Waste Holding Tank | Todd 85-1532WH

Can I get all the hoses & fittings I'll need @ HD or Lowe's? I know little about plumbing but this should be really simple. I'll be using a Flojet pump & either a Camp Chef or EccoTemp 12V tankless H2O heater.

I like the thickness of this tank. Everything I've been looking at is much thinner. IMO, the fittings and hoses can be purchases at any LHS or irrigation or ranch supply.

600lbs of water is a lot:eek:more than my trailer weight loaded
How many weeks are you going for?
Ha! I may be over-preparing for water but hey, better safe than sorry! I drink ~1 gal. a day, my wife & kid @ .5+ gal. a day each.
5 days we'll drink 10+ gallons.
Add in 3 showers a day (can't stand going to bed sweaty, sticky & dirty) so that's ~6+ gal/day x5 days is 30gal.
Not even counting water for washing dishes, hands, etc.
So a 5 day trip w/just us 3 we'd need 40gals.
We've gone thru 40gals in 4 days in our 5th wheel so actually I'm going light w/only 25 gallons.
Maybe lower it to 20gal but doubt it.

Sounds like 2 - 25gals mo better:grinpimp:

If you Summer in Texas, I would re-think your calculations for your wife and child. They are on the light side. My woman drinks well over a gallon as I do per day. We have a 31 gallon tank of drinking water as well as 11 gallons of regular water for washing dishes, showering and emergency use. We don't drink soda, beer, wine, juice or anything else.
Yes, it is a little over 390 lbs including the containers, I also carry a water filter, pump and a bucket to fill these if need be.
The cool thing is we can and do spend almost three weeks at GSENM with no issue of running out of water. We backpack overnight, do long day hikes, and camp where we want.

Tank is too large for expedition style trailer. Keep it narrow and long centered preferably over the axle you have more control of the tongue weight a forwsrd tank even partially filled will push your rig

Let me throw this out.
Just because you have 20 (or 25) gallon capacity doesn't mean you have to haul it full on every outing.

But, when you need more capacity fill it up.
I have a 36 gallon tank on my off road trailer.
I rarely fill it until I get close to where Im going to set it up.

I haul it full only the last few miles. Sometimes we fill it from 6 gallon jugs from runs into town as needed.

If you've got room for it, mount it.

Nothing like a happy clean wife and Kiddos to make a camping trip a good one.

I can't see 210lbs pushing my 80 around. That's like saying I can't have a grown man, or fat woman, in my back seat because it'll push my rig around & make it unsafe. 210lbs is nothing. The tires, wheels & axle weigh more than that.

I've checked into them. They're thinner as well as more expensive. For a 25gal I'm looking @ $100 more by going w/Ronco. Thanks.

If you use one source for water and get a failure you have no water. I prefer the use of multi containers.

I use this method...

I keep the 3 -5 gal. (1 in the truck, 1 on either side of the trailer) cleaned out and filled with my drinking/cooking water only...the trailer tank (21 gallon) is for "utility water" .

I usually disinfect the big tank in the beginning of the year with Clorox.

Edit: and as a safety precaution I also plumbed in an outside spigot on the big tank, in the event the pump s***s to bed...as least you can draw water

I also have a 5gal. Spector MWC & a case of bottled water! I'm acclimated to hunting in the middle of nowhere so I'm usually more than prepared for disasters.
