My TBI 350 runs like hell...........should I give up and get a carb? (1 Viewer)

I don't see anything that really stands out in the logs. Unfortunately I don't understand what alot of the raw data in the Winaldl logs mean, especially when the txt files don't align very well with the description. if you could post the XLS version, it is much easier to read.

To lower your idle there is a screw just forward of the throttle linkage. It may have a plug that needs to be removed if AFI did not do it already.

What kind of mods do you have on your engine? Big cam?

vacuum leak and probably an exhaust leak letting fresh cold air hit the o2

Nat did you check fuel pressure incoming and outgoing?

Not yet, we moved and I have to find my gauge. last time I checked, it seemed I was in range. :meh:

I have a hard time believing it is a vacuum leak. A vacuum gauge gives a great reading and I have taken apart and reasealed the system 4 times trying to make sure it is not a vaccuum leak.

AFI kept insisting that's what it is.............I just don't see how it could be a leak.

I will check my exhaust.

Your datalog is showing a map value of about 31 at idle, so if you do have a vacuum leak its is not effecting your vacuum and therefore not causing the MAP sensor to think the engine under load and adding additional fuel......

AFI should be able to read your datalog and see this!

an exhaust leak would only cause a rich condition while in closed loop mode, which only occurs when the engine reaches operating temps. You said it runs better sometimes when its cold, at what temp does it start running bad?

Make sure you do not have leaky injectors. while the engine is idling, you should see a fine, cone shaped spray from the injectors to the wall of the TB bore, above the butterfly with no drips. Check the pressure again, on the inlet side. It should be around 13psi and steady, try having someone put thier foot on the brake and giving some gas while in gear (load the engine) and see if that causes a flucuation in pressure.

What pump are you using? Have you tried to adjust the idle via the screw? In your logs it appears you are not getting any IAC steps.

If you have the Excell files of the datalogs I can read them better and hopefully get a better idea.

When we first made/tested the Landcruiser 6 cyl fuel injection, we had 1,000 percent your problems. Eventually we learned that (a) our map sensor was not matched to the ECU (consequently we've always thought that you can not swap MAP sensors just cause you're in the mood to do so)
(b) we had not installed a VSS. Eventually we learned the VSS works with the ignition module in the dizzy to control idle functions (primarily auto choke, or lack of). Here's hoping your dizzy is compatible--sine wave!!!

Sorry you're having so much trouble. I'll be turning the key on my own TBI conversion next week. You might try Brian at TBIchips.com. He seems to know his stuff very well and can certainly read the data form your computer. I hope that helps.
