I have a web page dedicated to the rebuild of my 2/71. Just follow the link in my sig. It might give you and your boy some help when you tear into various things.

It does me no end of good to know that dads are taking the time to pass on the knowledge on these old trucks and the sons and daughters are willing to learn!

Keep the pics coming! :)

I've been through half your pages already, and reading the tech links. Actually been planning this for a while since I bought this three years ago and it has just been sitting! :bounce::bounce2::bounce2::bounce:

ya me and my dad bought it just to work on something. But then When I was like 13-14 ish I did soa pretty much by my self. Keep up the great progress...

If I can replace them successfully, you can have them for the shipping cost. They are not in good shape what so ever and cracked pretty bad. Need to check SOR.

Sounds good then. I'll take'em.

I can work some magic to them and "maybe" get them back in usable shape.

I'll PM you with my addy info.

Well the tub came off today as promised. Here are a few shots of the tub on the trailer. This is the best place for me to store it while I tear down the frame, power wash and blast it. Then it will get a coat of POR 15 and I can start bolting things back together.

Can't believe how fast you are tearing into it. You should have it finished by the end of the summer at this rate.

Are the flares in decent shape? I have to come up to NH in a couple weeks, and will take them off your hands.

Nice looking rig, especially for way up north.

Perfect timing to come TTT.

We just drug my 14 yo son's '65 to the house last Sat., & spent the long weekend on the tear-down. I've been telling himthat I want him to start a thread, so that he can gain "infinate knowledge" from all on MUD.

I'm going to show him your thread as soon as I get home.

Keep up the great work!!

The flares might be Bushwackers, or the man-a-fre variety. Hard to tell, they all look the same. I wouldn't be suprised if sor/maf were made by bushwacker anyway.

Well I know it ihas been a while, and winter killed the work on the cruiser up here. My son see's his licence on the horizon and that is motivating him. We finally go off all the pieces and parts such as the bent front bumper and the steering box bracket, etc and we are working on cleaning up the frame. The kid is out wire brushing it as I type and I have been snapping some photo's as he goes. New pictures soon, hope to have some paint on the chassis next weekend!

Glad to see a father & son getting another cruiser on the road again. My son was 15 when he got his 73 fj40. He's 25 now has had 2 toyota pick ups, 1 4-runner, 2 fj60's. His DD is my old Tacoma with 220,000 miles on it. But he still has the 73 at my house, it's in pieces now but he wants to do a frame up and get it back on the road. When he was in highschool his friends refered to his 40 as a mail truck on steroids. Best of luck to you and your son and hope you have a great time.
