You just head back to Ouray via Immogene to stay off the pavement. We just did a short marathon pass run and it was long but not too bad. The only turn with a pucker was the first one by the waterfall. We have Gigs of pics and vids from that run.

How many of you are on the evil social network facebook?

I need some opinions....
What side of town is the best side of town to live on?
I know it was mentioned in the past about not having a "loop" and the east side traffic bringing the suck.
I was just wondering where some of y'all live and what traffic might be like for you.
I have know idea where my wife or myself will be working, or living for that matter. Just curious.
We plan to rent when we first get there. We've been finding all kinds of listings for houses all over the area for really great monthly rates. I just kind of want to start narrowing it down to certain areas.

One more question...
Whats the current rate on gas and diesel today?
Also if memory serves me correct.... isn't you low grade unleaded octane 86?

Since I have nothing to do at work except waiting to leave, I'll take a stab at some of questions:

What side of town is the best side of town to live on?
This kind of depends on what you want pay for a house and where you work. I work on the south end (Ft Carson) but live on the east side (I believe you meant the WEST side has traffic issues coming from Manitou/Woodland Park.). I don't mind the commute but traffic can be a PITA (normal people and 2 military bases heading home). I love where I live on the east side (near Barnes Road and Peterson Blvd). Great food places, Sky Sox baseball field (free fireworks on Fridays I can view from my deck), close to anything you would really need on a daily basis. AND I DON'T LIVE NEAR THE ARMY BASE!

There is no 'loop' around Col Springs, but there are major roads that aren't too bad. My first impression when I arrived in CO was that the speed limits are super high in the city! My daily drive to work (in the city, all city) is mostly 55 mph. Peterson Blvd that runs by my house is 40 mph.

Whats the current rate on gas and diesel today?
I just filled up my Powerstroke yesterday and it was $3.73 a gallon I believe. Not sure on gas, since my wife's car is diesel as well. Prices can very greatly anywhere in the Springs. The two gas stations nearest my house can differ by almost 5 cents a gallon or more on any given day. Our low grade octane for gasoline is 85. I'm not sure why we only have 85, but it may be something with the elevation here? Not really sure.

I wished I still lived in manitou until I go back to manitou. 24 traffic sucks coming back down the pass on the weekends and when I lived in manitou trying to get back there from the east side was horrible on a Friday during the summer with all the campers trying to get up the pass. If you can live in woodland you could get away from a lot of it except for Friday afternoon traffic. If you can afford monument that's a good place. You are close to mt. Herman road which is what I usually use to get up to the mountains to avoid 24 all together anymore. You would also have the interstate that can shuffle you around to just about wherever you want to go. I live on the east side and stay in my confined walls until I leave to go to the mountains anymore. People are really starting to get to me, I think the problem is all these texans keep moving up here.lol:rimshot::D

Oh and this side of town is nice but the criminals never poop where they live. I got robbed about 6 years ago while I was sleeping but I get up early and must have startled them so they didn't get much. They just got in the garage but I am still pissed about it. Slept a few nights with the cars and 12 gauge awaiting there return but no dice. I had a lot of nice stuff in the garage that was worth a lot more then my kids diaper bag so I assumed they would return.

Or you could live a little farther out. If there are 3 cars on the road when I leave for work it is "who opened the flood gates!" If you worked in the Springs the commute would suck though...

People started to remind me of the rat race, so I left :)

You're probably just going to have to come out and take a look. Everyone will have their own ideas of what the best side of town is. I think all will agree that anything south of town is out. Maybe use Platte ave as a dividing line. If your family likes suburbia, you should look at the east side. You can get a lot of house for the money. The wall to wall rooftops remind me of shanghai or something, I would never live there, I don't care how many shops and restaurants there are. A lot of people would hate Woodland park too, because we don't have a Best Buy or a Chili's right down the street. Personal preference.

Yeah I know. That's why I was asking for opinions.
We will be in suburbia for a little while till we buy a house.
We plan to rent for at least a year, maybe two. Than when we buy we hope to buy up in Woodland Park area.
Where do you live Bret?

Good thing I'm not a Texan. Just a Missourian that resides in Texas.

I'm with you Matt. I'm getting more antisocial as I get older, so I just stay in the woods. All these "United States Constituents" that seem to be wandering around plugging up society with their lazy uselessness and lack of purpose. They're like real life zombies, might as well be moaning "I don't have to work...I don't have anything to do...somebody take care of all of my children..." We should just be able to black-jack them over the back of the head and step over their quivering bodies so we can get things done. Lol.

I live toward the north end of town (along with some other CLCer's) and it's not bad. Sort of "Suburbia USA" (Targets, WallyWorlds, Olive Gardens, etc.) but we like the school system, so...
