I just recently bought a 1971 Fj 55. I'm in the process of fixing it up. Hopefully I will have some pics up soon. If there's any advice u all can give me to do to this thing that would b great. Thanks

Congrats on the new :pig:  Howz your body skillz? Ready for some rust repair? ;p
You equipped w/ a 220V welder & 2 stage air compressor? How bout a plasma? You'll need this stuff if you wanna tackle a rust prone piglet :D If the rockers & rear corners are heavily oxidized, cut it off & add some protection. You ain't gonna resto this are 'ya? :frown: Build 'er up HUGE & get to the pics dude.......

who ever had this truck before me loved bondo. So theres a lot of that i have to tear out and then im going to start working on the body. No im not goin to restore it im just gonna build it up for wheeling. Im bout to do a spring over on it and get it ready for tellico this year. Then when i get back im gonna start working on the body and try to make it look a little better

:bounce2: Fawesome dude, we got too many of the "Hi, I'm new, I just wanna resto this for a DD" I'd get yer :pig: ready for wheelin first cuz, if you've ever been to Tellico those trails aren't kind to wagons, & you may come back w/ a trail modded body :D Keep your ride ht. low w/ the SO if possible, you don't wanna be tippy. What size tires you planning? Stock axles too? Here's some wider 60 axles for sale that'll give you a 3" wider stance, disk brake front w/ beefier birfs & knuckles:

yea there's just to much to do to try to restore it. Yea I've been to tellico for the past three years and ur exactly right those trails are not kind to wagons at all. Two years ago I turned my 80 on its side coming up 8 so I defantly know what u mean. I'm gonna try to run 35s on it with the spring over I'm pretty sure they will fit

Awesome, the paint looks like those blue ghetto-flauge pants in the late 90s.
CONGRATS ON THE PIG.
55s freakin rule.
I have about decided to keep mine even though I need it like a whole in the head.

This will make a great wheeler for you.

thanks man im gonna try to keep fixing it up.

its def gonna be a lot of fun to wheel

Hey THAT'S MY OLD PIG!!! SOLD it to a guy in SC with a brother somewhere else. Last I heard it was sitting b/c he had so many other landcruisers. Man it's good to see that thing. Let me know if you want more info on it. Used to call it "Magic Bus." We drove that thing all over the US. Once went to Black Hills Cruiser Classic in SD, wheeled for 4 days, and drove back -4000 mile round trip w/ no problems. That's one strong piggy. The engine was rebuilt in 1999 -used to run like a top. Let me know how she's doing. Great to see you breathing new life into it.

yeah i got it from my cousin who bought it from a guy in SC. So yea i guess it was yours. Well im gonna try to fixer up. The engines still pretty good on it we had to rebuild the carb and then replace the gasket on the intake manifold before i did that it sounded like an old tracter. Im gonna try to bring life back to her but il def let u know how it goes

I know...I love it. So glad someone's bringing her back to life. I'm also gonna see my old fj40 this weekend at an Upstate Cruisers rally. The guy totally rebuilt her - new body and all. Can't wait to play with my 55 though!
