For what it’s worth….; I met @antFJ over a year ago as he was passing thru NJ on his way northeast. He had mounted a similar box on the top of this upper dash cushion with a cutout gap in the middle to fit the display in. Surely more of a radical decision but if you have a plan….cool

I am a gadget guy… touch screen stuff is high on my list

I like the touch screen for the electric upgrade I’m thinking

Came out to the garage and realized the 40 was actively guiding in air traffic.

Brake lights on, nobody home.

Looks like the pedal stopper finally turned to dust. Time to retire the 40 from runway duty - might as well do clutch petal too

Here is the old and new and the theory…. The indent was enough to prevent the switch from completing full travel and click off

That was full frustration to replace. If you are replacing brake booster - do this too for $1.10 more in parts. With break booster off, easier. Don’t ask.

Clutch same part number and much easier to replace. Clutch old and new below

Change of plans. I’ll be in California for the foreseeable future. Getting YELLR prepped for a relocation.

When the BG asks you to stay on his team, that’s not really a suggestion.
looking forward to seeing you and your cruiser here around CA.

Met @Plains Cruiser for beers Sunday night. Left, made it about a block, and Yellr decided to celebrate by suddenly deleting the dash lights, marker lights, and tail lights. Headlights still worked, so I adopted the “just get your rump home” strategy.

Monday autopsy: Tail light fuse blown. Also thought I blew a fuse where the fusible link goes. PO’s creative fusible link also appears to have self-immolated. Bonus points for partially melting into the inline fuse harness.

I recently picked up an OEM fusible link (now that they actually exist again), but still need a couple end pieces to return it to stock.

While unwrapping what can only be described as a roll of electrical tape with wiring inside, I found one lonely strand of wire holding part of it together going to the ammeter. Had a plug from Coolerman and clean that up some.

Basically the PO used the wrong gauge wire for the main. It got hot. It expressed its feelings. Did a temporary 10-gauge patch with a fuse to keep things safe-ish until I can address it properly.

Heading back to CA soon — will inventory what I need and put in an order with Coolerman out there to make it right, later. In the “”make a better tomorrow… tomorrow” kind of vibe.

See the lower fuse is different color (thought it was blown). It was only melted to the inline fuse harness. But the gage of wire used was not campatible and it got hot.

Melted fused once removed.. it passed continuity check oddly enough.

Hangin' by a thread going to Ammeter.

put in new bit on one side to ammeter - DeoxIT on the female side for the moment. Will order parts.

The don't laugh, it works for the moment... 10 gage (yellow) to fuse and fuse to main (WL)..

Some context, for those who don't know Ian (@RevISK) and I are pretty tight.
Just looking through last year's SAS photos getting excited to go this year. What I think is pretty interesting is that you guys became close right after the first podcast experiences.

Last post before I turn to packing.

Picked up new dash long ago. The dash lights are not pre-cut for the light, so an X-Acto handled the work.

Rest is just reassembly. Part numbers for the tiny bits in some of the images. When Yellr's interior is clean, I will solve the more complex problem... where to store the magnet koozies? Then the pad goes in.

Sounds like something a photographer type would say.
Totes…
I can’t do ALL the work making you look good. You’ve got to contribute as well.
