Looking under Yellr's skirt...

Rus is going to remove&replace the part in the yellow, clean it all out behind and up along the frame, then address the crack in red (drill pilot at head of crack) clean the crack and weld it - then on to making a plate to reinforce the area up past the crack.

Rus used the descaling needles to clean up a lot in that small area - can see the channel separating from the frame down low after knocking off loose stuff. Lots of metal gone. I will post more pictures of the carnage.

Then on the outside of frame - secure the spring perch that cantilevers out to the frame for added strength.

So ask me, "There is more of the inner channel that is separating on the frame moving left, why not do that too?"

There is more of the inner channel that is separating on the frame moving left, why not do that too? - Well I am glad you asked. There is more that needs to be removed to include the TC/Transmission and my goal is a 5 speed (been talking to Georg about it all a couple weeks ago) and when that time arrives, will have more out so that it all can be resolved at that time. This is phase one.

Frame Shame photos... enjoy.

This first one is where the red and yellow lines intersect looking up and in - notice the inner channel that goes into the frame is missing metal meat. And notice the split in the frame just above the perch bracket...

here is another try...

Are you doing the H55f/split case before all this is said and done? Or doing this portion, then going back in for trans work?

If it was clear above, my early morning eye boogers may have occluded it.

Later… hopefully spring early summer. But I need to move parking brake and things like that first

This here is plenty - and will get “smarter” about all this in round 1

Alright, just checking.
Looking forward to Yellr being whole.

It’s crazy to think back to the moment and place we were when this was discovered.

I know. Getting up on lift to keep own weight off was great.

well crap. Three drafts of writing. Can’t say what I’m thinking constructively or politely

Basically what I learned with the engine about things/myself, if getting mad/angry would solve the problem, then get mad/angry.

Something along the lines of providing a synonym for fornication to a particular Australian suspension component manufacturer?

Bryan Banister…

Jesus. I think I'd be pulling those rivets and getting those sections out. Have someone cut out and bend up new sections.
Yeah we were talking about the steps to go with rivets etc. there is a video of a guy removing and installing hot rivets in a FJ45 in AU.

Edit: and would be way easier if the body etc was removed. Pro/con. If I’m doing that, then that is a big onion to chomp on and might as well fix all the rust bla bla.

Been out for a long time with the engine and I just want to drive

That's pretty F'd up though....

I get that. But it's soon to be winter. Time to kneel next to the fire and pray to the old gods for the sun to return.

Or, cut up a messed up cruiser and fix it proper like since there's nothing else to do.

You moving back to Hoth?

Do you have a receipt with the parts numbers for the hoses and such for the gas tank. I also have a 79+ and am hoping to go through that in the spring. Thanks much!
I can post them.

I will tell you some parts are way less expensive from Japan and ship.

One hose on order was $50+ ship from the Toyota place I order from state side if possible. local Toyota dealers are even more expensive for some reason in Omaha/Lincoln.

But same hose in Japan was less than 10 and 12 shipping-

I think I can get it later out today. Still need to get the gasket for the suction tube. City Racer order arrived and need to make sure that all was packed.

@Chilkoot Here are the fuel tank parts I could find/source for the 79+ tanks... This is for the schematic for 77-51 (fuel tube) schema 3/4

I tend to order extra clamps so I have a spare if needed so quantity below may differ for your application

( I also got the fuel sender 83320-60051, sender gasket not listed below too) - got them from Racer along with the pipe only from him at same time.)

Amazing! Thank you so much! Yes I will be putting together an order through one of the overseas vendors since the price difference is pretty staggering and worth the wait to me.
