lookin' good!

After a couple of months, are there any updates? I just picked up an M416 and have been looking at how to hinge my tailgate and fab up a top. Yours looks great so far!

few updates i ran out of gas today but heres what i have.

tent is now on the trailer. (good to get it off the roof of my truck feels like a race car now)

took the tail gate off as i have a new idea id like to pursue which should lend itself better to camping.

I cut the side hole for the drawer which will come off the driver side of the trailer.

drawer will have built in cook top, as well as the sink and blender. the 30 gallon water tank will sit above the drawer the furthest forward in the trailer.

well thats it for now.

heres some more shots you can see the drawer slider extended gives me lots of room to work with for the kitchen

update im ordering some harware (gas shocks for the top, latch for the new tailgate) I was also going to order some rubber gaskets for the tailgate, lid, and drawer but they only sell 125 foot rolls and the stuffs over a doller a foot. any one know where i can get small amounts or cheaper price?

Heres a few shots of the tent opened up out side. need to get the top latched so can use the tent again.

Update: im installing my gas struts for the top and i seem to having a hard time getting them in the right spot. I also no fear i have too powerful of struts. I have the 250lbs ones. i figured with the weight of the tent and the top and them located at the front of the trailer they would be about right but the suckers are powerful. any one want to trade there 150lbs or 200lbs ones for some 250lbs? let me know.

Mike

update.. Well after many adjustments i finally got the top struts in the right spot. i may add some limiter straps to keep the top from going up as high as it does will see. I welded some steel plate in for extra support on the sides as these struts are so powerful they bent the sheet metal.

I cut up some cardboard templets for the rear fender support/step

heres the rear fender supports-steps and now there gas can carriers. I was going to put the propane tank there but after some thought it would be nice to carry extra fuel or water and i can put the propane tank infront of the fender on the right side. Still need some work but im pretty happy with the way its turning out. Need to get some more steel tomorrow if i have the time.

Got more done today. widened the left fender today by 4 inches, ill have to wait to do the other one until the metal place gets another 4 inch band in scrap ($10 minimum cut fee ) steel prices really have gone up :frown:

I made a notch in the fender as well for the gas cans to slid in further not sure ill do this to the other side as it was alot of work for minimum result. The top now latches shut and i really dig not having to un clip a bunch of latches to open it. all i need now is a 5 inch hole saw (talk about expensive ) I dont want to buy one as there like $40 and i only need one hole. Not sure what ill do there.

I put the tail gate back on for now as were going to try and take the trailer out tomorrow night.
