so after reading over that thread about trailer lighting it seems most of that is for large trailers? can i get away with just 2 lights? plus license plate light?

did a bit of work today not much but a bit, i also recieved the lights there pretty slick. im going to mount them in the angled out part of the trailer so it frees up the space where the original ones were for storage and a step. also got the latch to work but still have to do the other side. closes and hold snug really well.

more, i pulled the fenders off the trailer as i plan to widen them about 4 inches for the larger tires, any one done this before and have any tips? not sure how i will go about that yet. also pulled the lunnet assembly off and cleaned it up, primed and painted it just need to re grease and re assemble so it should work nice and smoth now.

Tube fenders?

It might be easier to make tube fenders and then metal sheet them. I have thought about this on my 1943 MBT trailer. Then I could put the original fenders if i wanted to get back to stock.

lunnet re assembled and greased works smooth now :D

also dry fitted a 31 to measure for the fender extension. looks like 7 inches i need to extend it  still not sure what ill do about that.

quick update, pics to follow in the near future, gathering parts, i was able to get my hands on a 3 free fzj80 wheels and tires. and have started to convert the brakes to electric ones however i need to find a pair of 10'' electric brake hubs with 6 lugs any ideas on a cheap place to fine them? i hate to spend $200 on just hubs.

I went ahead and bought the TEKONSHA" P3 brake controller which ive heard nothing but good things about. any recommendations on a wiring kit for the brake controller?

I also have a 30 gallon poly water tank on its way which will be mounted forward in the tub.

Well just an update threw some cheepo wally world tail lights on it, got it registered and im in the process of doing the top.

the top will resemble the AT trailers and will be tig welded aluminum.

A question i have is are the AT trailer lid steel? what guage? what support do they use for the tents?

I was thinking about doing something like a upside down boat hull where every foot or so where would be a rib-gusset that would create the strength needed.

Looking good. Just about got mine registered after more trip to the DMV, Police, etc than I can to admit...hopefully on Monday! Then the fun can begin...

well the top is taking longer then expected, materials is though and should be done thur time permitting. on another note ive been designing the awning. it will hopefully be made from c channel and pipe aluminum but cost is always an issue. this will be a free standing unit where no poles or lines will be needed. of course its compact when closed.

I have thought of adding an awning like that before too, I love your design. I'd love to see it all fabbed up.

Keep it up, you have some great idea's!

Drew

I like the awning idea, I was working on something simular but ended up just buying a Kelty carport awning, it works very well and gives you more shade.Packs away small and only take a couple minutes to set up. In the pic below it is higher then I normaly use it.You can attach it to anything the velcro will strap around.
