OK, so now I have the full scoop on your situation. (using this morning to work on catching up somewhat on Mud) My back problem wasn't as simple as what you are dealing with. Like others have said, listen carefully to Dianna and your Dr, but you will also need to challenge your self in a very careful manner. I eventually ended up in physical therapy, and was told I had to either ride a bike or walk as part of the therapy. Apparently the action of the movement of the legs helps build up back muscle strength. Anyway, it worked for me.

I will keep you in my prayers for a successful surgery and recovery.

Thanks Don!!

I walk and ride a spin bike now... As much as I can... And I've promised daBoise that we'll get back to our daily 6 mile walks, once I'm 'cured'... Chester hasn't experiencd that yet, except on hikes.

44's Current Status - this is as much for my documentation as for y'all's reading pleasure.

- Reconnected the tach
- Drove her a few miles, to test the electric fuel pumps (this for John (@bikersmurf): I honestly can't hear either fuel pump, while driving. Of course, I don't hear much besides the tinnitis anyway). I love the performance I've felt thus far, using the electric pumps.
- Front turn signals weren't working right after the harness melt. I pulled them off and went to clean them up and found they had undergone open heart surgery, by some PO, at some point. I bought a new pair from Thailand and installed them today. I had to do a little rewiring on them, to join the marker light to the running light. They work great!

Everything (except aftermarket accessories) works fine... I disconnected the accessories while rehanging the harness, I decided I might as well install an aftermarket-accessory breaker, fuse box, relays and upgraded toggle switches. Some of the parts have arrived... some have not. I also bought parts to install my Viair compressor... probably under the hood, where the heater blower used to live...-accessory panel, via a relay.. wired to the new aftermarket

Tomorrow, I'm going to begin rewiring my aftermarket-accessories. I can start with the fuse box, relays and toggles and get that all wired. Then, if the breaker arrives in time, I can wire it from the battery and to the fuse box. If it doesn't arrive in time, I'll finish it later... just won't be able to use off road lights, etc. in the meantime.

I'll wire the Oil Pressure Safety Switch (OPSS) once I get this new wiring all done... I'll need to wire it to a relay, under my new fuse box and allow the OPSS to control the power feed to my fuel tank DPDT switch... so, it 'knows' which fuel pump is active... and therefore which pump to shut down, if oil pressure drops below 2 psi... and which pump to allow to come active when cranking the starter, with oil pressure below 2 psi.

So... that's my story... I'll document more stuff, while I'm laid up after my Aug 30th surgery.

Best efforts are paying off!

Good luck with the surgical 'procedure'.

Damm I need to get you down here to work on my 40 before your procedure.my back is good and I can't make any major progress. I am stressing out Cruisin The Coast starts Oct2 and I am registered and on vacation for that week so it has to be running by then other wise I will be driving 1966 VW bug..

You have a month... Calm down, crazy!

I admit I haven't kept up with threads very well lately...

What sort of problem are you having?

Thanks!

I can't help you... but, don't get in a hurry to get old!

While I was griping about the weather I realized it was no longer raining and the ground had dried up enough that I could get a little work done. I was able to get the slave drive installed And blue lock tight on the transmission bolts plus the shaft going to the top of the transfer case back on the pivot but I am missing the bolt the connects it to the bracket on the top of the transfer case

@pngunme Danny glad to hear your 44 is coming together! I haven't been around for over a month and just read about your harness melt down, wow that sucks.

Thanks Mike - all fixed - I just have some accessories to hook back up. But, I want to set up a whole separate fuse box, etc. for my accessories.

I was starting to worry about you - good to see you back!!

I swapped out my dump valves on the trailer yesterday... so, that dirty job is done!

This morning, daBoise and I drove 44 about 20 miles, at dawn, and learned the hard way that when I removed the heater to make pulling the harness easier, I forgot to burp the cooling system... made it back home and, once it cools down, I'll burp it.

All the parts are here for the new break-fusebox-accessories wiring... I hope to have a lot of it done today and all of it done by tomorrow... including wiring the Oil Pressure Safety Switch.

Here's 44 with lights again

Thanks Danny! I was fighting medical gremlins again, it's non stop these days.

An auxiliary fuse box is a great idea, that's what I did with my console. I recommend using a fuse box energized by a 30 amp relay which is connected directly to the battery.

Danny what's the procedure on burping the system? Thanks

Danny what's the procedure on burping the system? Thanks

Everybody has a favorite - here are some - check Mark's (@65swb45 ) in post# 3 Proper way to burp a 2F?

I'm not sure whether Mark's burps the heater circuit - maybe he will chime in.

I installed Don's (@handcannon) high-point burp spot, in my heater loop that runs over the valve cover, at the firewall. That's the highest spot in the cooling system. I remove the cap, with the engine running and let the air out by topping it off with coolant thru this 'burp spot'.

Now that I've removed my heaters, I no longer need to open the heater valve... but, you may... to ensure the air is out of the heater loop... unless Mark says it's not necessary with his temp sender method.
