My 2015 LX570 Hamilton Install

As a previous owner of a BeatSonic carplay module in my GX460, I installed a Hamilton unit in my new to me 2015 LX570. I have the phone echo mic issue that I need to get sorted, so I'm glad to come across potential fixes for this.

I have been working with Hamilton support for a different issue though. The screen shows a bleed across white black boxes with white lettering. For instance, in Waze, you see the black box on the left, with the white lettering often making horizontal lines across. It's not limited to that app, and it seems intermittent. I got a patch from them, didn't solve it, got another set of instructions to send them the dip switch config, then a day later after I buttoned it up, more instructions to flip some dips and reset them again. I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with Hamilton and I'm considering returning it in search of another solution.

I just installed the Hamilton unit in my 2013 LX. So far no issues. Android Auto setup instructions are minimal (company seems to focus on CarPlay, I guess they all have iPhones) but I figured it out. Install was pretty simple, no issues taking the radio and head unit out. Overall a simple DIY job.

All OEM functions remain, front/side camera/rear camera work. Switching between AA and OEM is simple and seamless. I would 100% recommend this unit, it is a simple and easy solution to get CP/AA using all OEM components.

It finally arrived and I'm starting this thread to post my install and experiences with it.

First off is an unboxing video!

I plan on posting mostly videos and maybe some pics if people request specific things.

Once the unit is installed I'll give it some thorough testing and post my findings.

Feel free to ask questions and I'll try to post some replies.

Awesome video man. looking at doing the same thing

All,

I was able to get it installed in our 2014 LX570. My time was 1:35 min and then another 10 for setup. So far so good. Made two outgoing calls. The only complaint is switching between two iPhone users. My only difficulty installing was making the harness fit behind the lower radio section as it kept pushing the right side out.

Nothing usable. There are a lot of quirks with the 08-09 and they are different units than the 10-11 years.
They were able to find a local LX that they can pull some needed canbus data from in Oct so on hold until then.
I am actually here today with my 2008 lx570 for them to run all the tests and hopefully install. Nice new warehouse with plenty of items in stock and a big install bay set with bright lighting. I will update asap.

Nice, excited to get the update and start testing again.

What kind of testing are they doing? I am wondering if they are considering screen or camera upgrades?

They had a lead engineer from China at their place yesterday. The unit was installed and he was running tests and diagnostics to make sure everything worked as it should specific to the 08-09 years.

I did ask about a screen upgrade but it doesnt not seem to be in the works at this time. Haven't thought about camera upgrades but they did report that my 360 camera worked fine with the new until installed.

Waiting to get my hands on it all myself abd will update with more this afternoon. Overall experience was very good and Hamilton lived up to its reputation here.

Its finalizing the functionality of the unit. The 2008-09 series have a different stereo unit and the way they read camera and sensor data and such is different.

After spending a few days with the Hamilton unit in my 200 series lx570 I can speak to functionality and fit. Overall the system works great. Fairly flawless connection and I haven't had any issues with maintaining connections. Cameras all work and sliding between stock to Hamilton (android auto in my case) is seamless. The only issue i see was clearly stated by the shop. Occasionally when switching between stock and Hamilton, there is a brief lined screen that shows. They did mention this to me and said they may ask for the truck back to troubleshoot a little more but assured me that it does not pose any risk to the system or effect the functionality of the system in anyway.

Besides the lined screen, the system is flawless and i cannot say enough good things about the unit. I really like that the company is based in the US with a great customer service mindset and the technology works as advertised. Install is seamless and no signs of additional equipment is present on the vehicle.

Feel free to reach out with any questions. Coming from a 98 lx470 with a stock stereo this jump brings me into the 21st century in style. Im thrilled to have live maps and streaming services available and happy to have the Hamilton unit installed!

Is this just a unit to use the stock screen to display CarPlay/android auto? Not a new unit with updated screen?

@slipkid13 How are you liking your unit? I have a 2013 LX as well and I am thinking about ordering it. Do you have the call echo that others have mentioned?

Correct, but a screen is available for 2016

I really like it. No issues with call echo, though call volume is low so you have to crank up the volume. There is a fix according to Hamilton (using car BT for calls) I just have not called them yet to setup.

The only "issue" is if you have the front camera set to auto, it can be slow sometimes to switch back to AA but its not a big deal for me, just turn off "Auto" on the camera and I have never had an issue.

My non Hamilton setup. Used in combo with the leather and dirt mount system. Cleaned up the wiring. Plugs into aux, keeps all stock functionality. Works well imo

Looks like a nice alternative! What are the specifics on this display unit that you're using? Go back and forth on the hamilton unit, but may go the route you did.
