M2s I went with the 40 series flowmaster and love it ,,, It's loud at frist but sounds like a V8 .. A deep rumble... I at the same time did the pipe back and was surprised to see the stock bend in the pipe that went over the axle ... the 2" pipe was comprest to 1" and then back to 2" ... the shop did it right and went 2.5" .And wow what a big improment. The cats are next.

Yellow,
Do you have any pics of the way you routed the piping? Thanks

Mines got a 2 & 1/2" system and it's reasonably loud. I've got a
Hooker Aero Chamber to go on it, so i'll see how it goes.

Romer,

I don't have a Land Cruiser ...yet (newbie still looking), but when I had a 1990 4Runner (3vze 3.0 V6) I replaced the stock cat and muffler.

1) I used a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. I forgot which model, but it was the largest (longest) case they make. The Super Turbo series is a chambered muffler so it wasn't very loud. I also replaced the cat with a Dynomax cat.
2) It was not noticably louder, just a much deeper tone.
3) I did notice a slight improvement in performance. I suspect the OEM cat was plugged at 140k. mi.
4) Total parts and labor was less than $200. Of course this would be more expensive on a LC with 2 cats :D
5) I probably would use the same muffler on a LC, but I would go with Magnaflow (Carsound) cats. I know a 3.0 V6 is a lot less motor than the 4.5 I6, but given what I learned I wouldn't want too loud of an exhaust on an LC, just MO.

I know that the stock has a resenator also has anyone place a straight through res on the exhaust as well. I have twin 2 1/4's on my inline 3.0 ltr car ....I was just wondering what the optimal size was on the 4.5ltr in the cruiser. hmmmm

Replaced mine cat-back with Magnaflow and dislike it. It's not the volume, it's the resonation in the cabin at highway speed. I can't wait to put a Borla system on. The Borla sounds deeper as well, the magnaflow sounds brappy, to rice for my tastes even on an inline 6.

Just my $.02

Hrm. Do you know which magnaflow muffler it was?

I was hoping this question wouldn't come up but I knew in the back of my mind that it would.

The answer is:

I forgot.

But I could measure if that helps? Sorry...

Heh. Yeah if you could measure the body (length wise and around) and say whether it was oval or round that would help me figure out which model not to buy. :D

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but Romer, which Magnaflow did you go with? The 14576? Do you still like it?

Not sure, but I'll see if the part number is on there later. I drove the 40 to work today. Working lots of overtime

It says Magne Flow Performance 2.5"

I do like it although some might think its too loud!
