Luckily, I kept the castle nuts from the original ball joints and had them re-plated. This pic is two new nuts that I stripped the threads on. This happened at well below the recommended torque setting. Crappola quality.

Nice work! One day I hope to have a 40 series again.

G'day Mudders, I've started bolting bits and pieces back onto the chassis. It is niceto be be putting things back together rather than taking them apart.

I have a question. The pic below is the rear cab/body mount. The next pic is a front body mount. The front mount has a little rubber bush or insulator. Does anyone know if the rear one is also meant to have something similar. I can't find any diagrams on the web???

Hey, its the Sydney sider. Speaking of Down Under style, I imagine you are sitting on the deck of your north shore mansion overlooking the harbour and whack'n a couple a prawns of bbq. I bet you are living right next door to that ol'sumbitch Malcolm Turnbull.

wow. Chinese crap for ya I bet.

doing any upgrades to the 40 or just gunna completely restore it to 'original'?
G'day Indestructible 47, I guess it's turning into a bit of restoration. I just remove bits and pieces, clean them, paint them and put new bearings or seals in them and then put them back together. If nothing else it keeps me off the streets.

Malcolm Turnbull is my sumbitch.

Hi Guys,

It has been a week or so since I updated Mario's re-build. It is school holidays in Australia at the moment. So we have spent the last week camping with friends in eastern Victoria at the Croajingolong National Park (Pronounced Crow-a-jing-go-long). The park forms part of 12 World Biosphere reserves in Australia and is about 500 km east of Melbourne. It was nice to have a couple of hundred kilometres to ourselves. Except for a colony of seals and a pack of dingos. The only draw back is that it rained pretty much constantly. Regardless, we had a blazing fire each night, cooked damper in the coals. The kids paddled in the inlet and got wet and dirty and loved every minute of it.

Brilliant! What rig did you take - or did you Fred Flintstone the 47?

G'day Cult, I took the VW Amarok and our Kanga Camper Trailer. I thought about taking the 47, but the kids would grizzle every time they had to push me up a hill. I'm having trouble uploading images. It's only half a days drive from Sydney mate, so we might have to hook up for a night once Mario hits the road. Cheers, Ben

Great picture! Reminds me of "Point Break" (1991) with the Legendary Keanu Reaves.

Yeah man I'm down. Every other Mudder I've physically met has been great: catskinner, 84TROOPY and sneaky.

With those terrible Australian accents when there was a country full of actors that could have played the role? Haha and he was gonna paddle to NZ. Bit of a swim I think, Bodhi.

Work continues on repopulating the chassis. It is a more time consuming and frustrating task than I had imagined. I take the computer down to the shed and scroll back through photographs checking the location of stuff and then searching for the correct nuts and bolts. I wish I had taken more photographs of the heads of the bolts. Although, I must say, it is still good to be putting things back together, rather than just taking them apart.
