Here's what's happening.
Turn left and load the engine in the turn. Shift arms on the transmisison and Tcase both pitch to the passenger side and there's a terrible noise from the front of the car. Maybe the fan rubbing on the inside of the shroud? Sometimes happens when I "launch" from a stop and load the engine. Launch is in quotes becuase, I mean, it's a 2F so launch is relative.

So I wonder if I have a broken motor mount. Anyone ever observed something similar? Do FJ60s motor mounts ever fail?

Possibly, could be easy enough to check with a floor jack on the oil pan. Don't go crazy but some pressure should let you see any movement

There's a transmission mount also but that's probably not as likely

I’ve had 2-3 break either old or oil soaked and the rubber in the mount fails. It’s always been the driver side mount that’s failed. Open the hood, crank the motor and work the carb by hand and watch the 2F twist. Not too difficult to replace. From the bottom unbolt both motor mounts, place a piece of 2x6 under the oil pan and jack up the motor until you can remove the broken motor mount.

I use a bottle jack & a 2x4 (or similar), put the 2x4 on the bottom of the oil pan & slowly jack it a few inches. You can easily see if the motor mount is split or not.

What they said 👆. I had very similar problem as you describe, this is what my drivers side motor mount looked like when I replaced it a few years ago. In two pieces and soaked in power steering fluid. Very straightforward job to tackle.
