Mog Axles

I *think* this is an older type 73 Toyota. Again, I got it off of some of the defunt Japanese sites. The cabs are almost identical to the newer portal styles.

Will these come up for auction? I'd love a Toyota FC, even without portals.

These aren't Toyota though. I think Mitsubishi, IIRC.

And, again, IIRC, Mistubishi did make the majority of these, although Toyota made the megacruiser? You can see the cross over between the type 73s and the "megacruisers" based on the suspension, hub, wheel, and even tire choice.

I am not sure if it's standard or not, but I believe the C303 portal did come with a factory locker. I "believe" it was a vacuum locker.

the rig in the first pic definetly has the volvo c303 portals in it. pretty common for the guys competing in the eurotrials to run those axles. parts are pretty easy to find in europe and so are the complete axles since the militaries in scandinavia, especially sweden, has been scrapping the laplanders for the last few years.
some of the comp guys and hard core rock crawlers run them in the states as well, but parts are hard to find over here. there are aftermarket 300m shafts available but everything else is stock replacement parts only from what i've heard.

Mog axles are pretty bomb proof and are expensive too repair. The high speed axles are the best if you travel on the highway alot.

portal axles - lets face it they are one of the best if not the ultimate up grade for your cruiser other than a set of lockers.....

so what is out there for a 74 regarding portal axles other than mog/volvo? or what does it take to install a set of portals on a 74?

There is also the company portal teck, that makes custom portals out of Volvo portals I think, but the price will probably be up there a bit.
