May or June 29?

Weekdays are out for me unless I get [cough... cough] sick that day!

May 29th, I love wheeling during the week. Way less ass hats on the trails.

Tim, we could get an early start 7-8 am at the flying-j's

but now the big question FJ40 or 4-runner. I can take the trail faster in the 40, but I can drive 80 mph up the grapevine in the 4-runner.

Ian,

7am at Flyin J works for me....As for what truck to bring whatever one you enjoy on the trail more...but if you you bring the forty please bring some gogles please :D:D....Hopefully we can round some others up that also are off duringteh week....Mark maybe??

Just got off the phone with the ranger again. They received 3" of snow from the storm. So Alamo Mtn is even higher. They said, quite possibly a foot of snow up there. The road up is still open at this time and there are no plans on closing it at this time.

Looks like i'll need my snow boots :D

Im sure you are not going to forget your camera - SoCal snow in May - I gotta see it to believe it!

Have a great time!

Now I really wished we could have gone today.....:frown::frown:

Tim, if you really want to run Miller this weekend, there are some peeps from the Blue Forum (SoCal FJCsection) that are going regardless of weather. Just drop on by. I ran with them before - really cool laid back people.

Would have loved to take pics, but the Sheriff closed the gate at midnight before we arrived. So no dice getting to Dutchman camp. Apparently some yahoos headed up there with not so capable rigs sliding all over the place and getting stuck in the snow. We ended up camping over in lockwood valley instead. Still had a good time at 5,500 feet. Still made it to Carrizo plains in the rain. Trip report to follow.

Did they reopen thetrail?? Ian and I are going Thursday and don't won't to waste the trip...

They never closed the trail. They closed the gate at the bottom of Alamo mtn. Miller is still open.
The gate at the bottom of Alamo mtn is your exit from Miller that's why i mentioned it. So if it is
closed, you'll have to run the trail all the way back to Lockwood and exit the way you arrived.

Here, call before you go..

I assume it will be open by then. The snow will be melted by that day.
