Woo Hoo!,
I picked up my sliders this morning from the shipping terminal & they look awesome. Now I just need time to remove my running boards & mount these babies up!

Thanks again to wakesetter for setting up this deal, maybe I can squeeze IPOR's skid plate into the budget!

I "called" about my sliders and found they have been in Phoenix since last Saturday but the trucking company did not call me. I called LT and he gave me the phone number and when I called I was put on hold for a loooooong time. When he came back on the phone he told me the package is supposed to be there but they have no idea where it is. He said to just call the company back and order more. :hhmm:

When I asked him how they could lose something that big he acted like it happened all the time.

I called MT and they told me if I needed them they could make me another set but they have delt with the shipping company before and when they file a claim they always find the package. I told him I am in no rush to get them as long as I know I have a set for the price I paid I am happy to wait (but I really want them now!! :bounce:)

Oh well, I will play the waiting game and see what happens... :meh:

The guys at the terminal here couldn't have been more helpful. They brought the pallet out & I unbolted the sliders from the pallet (my battery impact driver was a great help  9/16") They helped me load them in the 80 & cut the hardware box loose for me (metal strapping) I'm going to see about removing the boards tonight & if that goes smooth, maybe mount the sliders.

Hope they find yours soon.

Paul

Did anyone order sliders for a 93-94? :hhmm:

Tony

So does that mean that you got the wrong sliders sent to you? Or did yours never show up?

I finally got them after they were lost in shipment and scratched when they got here. I am having fitting issues and had to take my entire exhaust loose to try to adjust for the fitting problem and had to grind off some metal at the cat guard area. I finally got them on but they are touching the rocker panel and I have no adjustment from front to rear. On the DS the front protrudes into my wheel well slightly and I have quite a bit of room (I did not measure yet) to move towards the rear but the slider brackets are between 2 of my frame brackets so I can not adjust them. On the PS side I have the same problem with no adjustment but the slider is even with the wheel well in the front with room to move towards the rear but again there is no adjustment. It looks funny and appears I may have clearance problems when I go to the 35's at the next tire change. I am also disappointed with the fender extensions rough look at the bottom since I can not mount my mud flaps on the bottom in the front because the sliders are so much closer to the front than the rear.

With the sliders touching the rocker panel it appears that if I use the sliders I will end up with body damage any way.

Lesson learned, custom built sliders local is the way to go. They would be on and fit as designed. :meh:

wow that is really surprising. I would contact MT and see what they say. There has got to be some sort of issue here (obviously) hopefully it can be explained. Let us know if you talk to MT and what they say. Anybody else have any of these issues? The bumper is perfect. I would be shocked to hear that they muffed up a pair of sliders like that, or even worse that that is normal for them.

Good luck Tony

Now see, I thought the same thing and do not want to post anything negative about them because they are working with me to fix the fit. They asked if there has been any frame damage so I sent them the Car Fax report I bought when I bought the rig to prove there has been none.

There is zero adjustment from front to rear of the vehicle to center them between the wheel wells which is probably by design so they do not slide during use "but" you would think they would be centered but the DS to PS spacings are different and not centered. The PS touches the rocker panel but the DS does not.

The sliders were "lost" at the trucking company for 2 weeks so perhaps they were bent during the seek and find event that took place there. I looked and I did not see any evidence of bending but I was only looking for paint that had peeled from the metal being bent.

I like the way they look but I am trying to figure out how to cut my mud flaps to mold around them which I am close to doing.

I seems like Murphy is following me on this purchase and it is really pissing me off!!!

Tony

I'll check the centering of mine when I get home later. I do know that the sliders are not in contact with the rocker panels. The sliders are powder coated so the coating won't normally crack or peel if the metal is bent.

On mine you must fit the "mouse ears" of the slider bracket around the frame bracket or none of the U bolts will fit properly.

So far I am very happy with the fit & quality of the Metaltech sliders.

I think that it would be damn near impossible to bend the slides while at the shipping co. Maybe in use, but not just moving them around

I checked my sliders & the drivers side protrudes into the wheel-well by about 3/8" to 7/16". The passenger side lines up with the even with the wheel-well. It looks like metaltech's jig may be off?

Just got my sliders yesterday and dropped them off to get the round hoops Line X'ed. I've done this in the past with my 4runner sliders and like the look and non-slip of it.

What is "Line X"? Is it something that is common? I never heard of it but would like to get the top of my sliders (when I get them) lined to keep them from being so slippery.
Tony

I recently did my front tube bumper with Herculiner, which is a roll on bedliner product made of urethane with rubber granules. It can be found at many local hardwares stores and auto parts stores. I plan on doing the top of my tubes on the sliders with it for traction. So far it works well on the bumper. Not as pretty as powdercoat, but should be more durable. I wish I had some videos of me doing the russian dance on the icy sliders. Thank god for Landcruiser grab handles. :)

Not the best pics but you get the idea. Was out wheeling last weekend in the snow and wasn't worried about slipping at all when standing on the sliders.

Recieved my FJ40 tube doors a few days
ago; it was the 11th order? Nice!

Thanks, Metal Tech, wakesetter and
all that made it happen.
