Jump up and down on one of the OEM ones until it breaks?

Apparently “they look terrible!” is not a good enough reason. :-)

I might take mine off for a few weeks and see how the kids do. The truck just looks so much better without the OEM steps.

Definitely pricey to ship. The timing was good for me as I was getting ready to buy next month.
I did get a 10% discount when I ordered today, and hoping for an additional 5% if 19 more people use the code. The $100 credit back on shipping would be an added bonus.

Haha, good call. I was also hoping at some point a traffic texter would bump me from behind and I could get a bior rear bumper. Stilllll waiting

Guaranteed discount is 10%!

You are correct, sir! Still, that’s only $70 off for the uncoated ones. When you factor in $257 for shipping, it ruins it for me.

I’ve also updated my previous post to remove the erroneous portion.

Agreed, same for me. I like the design and I don't doubt the quality, but I need something that I can get to my house for several hundred dollars less.

Last time I was driving beach trails on Nantucket Island, I backed in to a boulder, and got a small dent on my rear bumper. It’s not more than two inches in diameter. When it happened I ran out to look thinking I might have an excuse to replace it... but I was quickly disappointed.

I’ve since fixed my rear view camera.

Hey guys,

Check into organizing your own shipping and have them picked up at MT. It might save you some beer money or maybe more. Shop around and check LTL rates with YRC or RL or others that service the lane between MT and your city: if there is a terminal convenient to you, check the “dock-to-terminal” rate which can save you $, $$ and go pick them up at the transfer terminal.

Its worth a look; YRC Freight - The Original LTL Carrier Since 1924

Get the dimensions and weight including the pallet then go to YRC.com, click the SHIP tab and select RATE QUOTE, continue as GUEST,
Ship date- use a date 2-4 days ahead of todays date
Ship to consignee
Ship from: commercial with forklift and dock
Ship to: Pick up at terminal
Handling Unit: skid- enter dims and weight
Service options: choose STANDARD DELIVERY

Keep in mind that LTL rates go up and down week to week depending on market demand, seasonality etc. Comparing rates to what others paid 2 months ago or a year ago isn't helpful for todays market.

Oops, I meant to go forward and reversed again :)

take them off! ;)
Tie a rope to the handles or headrest posts for the kids! They figure it out quickly ;) mine were 5 and 7 here... 👍:steer:

Mark here founding owner of Metal-tech 4x4. Happy to help with some of the questions on the sliders, shipping and group buy. Shipping is always a rock, we need it and something out of our control. BUT we can do the best we can to keep the cost down and why we offer the raw versions of the sliders.

Easy! If the truck is driving in town they are urban door protection. Inconsiderate people parking next to you, if they open their door up they hit steel sliders, not your paint/door. Also, sliders bite back usually denting inward the outer edge of their door. We get regular photos sent to us of paint marks on sliders that match the car next to them with a dent in the edge of the other cars door. One good door ding repair pays for sliders.

Shoot me your zip in a PM I will run a quote for you. UPS had them listed as 15" wide not the 10" they are, I fixed that so you should see a difference as it was trying to list them as "oversize".

I just quoted a raw set shipping to Phoenix AZ, 85001, $122.81 for the pair.

Happy to ship on anyone's account UPS or LTL. You can order, set them for "In-store pickup" with a note your sending prepaid shipping labels when ready. To help you quote them here is the information:

Raw set:
73x17x10 at 69lbs each x2 + 10x12x2 at 4lbs small box with hardware = Total of three items

Powder coated set:
76x21x10 at 74lbs each x2 = Total of two items.

The raw set is the lowest cost to ship as they are not in boxes (but the small hardware box) these can go basic UPS ground. The powder coated ones are in two separate custom double wall boxes. These are the ones to ship truck freight, no pallet just the two 74lbs boxes.

I did this last year with them. The shipping was off the charts for most people, but then they finagled something with UPS and brought it down to something more reasonable, can't remember but it was shipped as freight? Anyway, nice sliders. If you do spray paint, I absolutely do not recommend VHT, even though a lot of guys used it. I read a lot over and over about painting and within four months it was rusted though I did the prep correctly. I literally took mine off today and I am sending them tomorrow to the powdercoater.

@helocat Can you run me a quote for a pair shipped to 89118?

When I used the site yesterday, It quoted me more than $200

@helocat - PM sent, raw set.

Any chance you can keep the thread up to date with how many people got in on the deal so far? Would be neat to have a sort of “count down tracker” to see how far off we are from the 50+ order deal. :)

I've got to run this by the boss as well...hopefully I can convince her by saying that we need steps for the kids. ;)

edit: I see the site now has updated shipping quotes which are MUCH more reasonable (nearly half the price of when I priced them out during Black Friday last year)

Hmmmm....tempting! I've been wanting some sliders. Now to convince the :princess:

Ok, FINE! I’m in for a set of raw sliders.

@helocat, just ordered. Shipping was $144 ... better than the original $257, but still hurts. :-(. And I still need to order all new brake parts! Argh!

Now I need to figure out how I want to paint them. I wonder if just hitting them with black rust-oleum rust converter would be good enough?

Come on people, let’s get this up to 50 orders by The 15th so we can get 15% off plus the extra $100.

I should've waited a couple weeks :( ordered mine 2 weeks ago and paid $987 for the raw OPOR ones :(

If you guys really want to rust proof the sliders, do what i did...clean and prep the surface really well, esp where the welds are...sand it down good. Get a small thing of POR15, brush it all over the sliders, this stuff dries hard as a rock and i don't see rust getting past it. Then coat it with a couple layers of paint of your choice and clear it.

Thanks for the tip! I happen to have a few cans of POR15. Won’t brushing it on end up looking terrible?

On a side note: anyone interested in a TJM winch tray? Never used and I doubt I will ever do the hidden winch install. I should post it in the classified section to help offset the cost of these sliders.

Just ordered. Let's get this to 50 for that big discount. ~$650 shipped for raw sliders will be an awesome deal.
