Clean em' up and they will be fine.

You need a Toyota Factory Service manual.

You could probably kill a lot of time taking them off and replacing the bearings at a place like Motion Industries.

What's the problem?

Randi will be at the Crawl and she can tell you all about the "belly incident" I am just glad the speedo did not escape that evening...

Got a question for all you mechanics out there. This little project is taking a little longer than I thought, especially acquiring parts. How long can the 3FE sit idle before screwing up? Is there any way to turn the cylinders through manually to keep stuff lubed up? It has been two weeks now and will be at least another week till I get to put it together.

Mine sits for a month pretty regularly. I've seen an F motor start up after 10 years sitting.

Worry about the rest of the stuff on your worry list, that one can drop down towards the bottom.

It can sit for months and be ok. You are fine.

I would be freaking out right now!

But that's because I'm worried about bed bugs in this worn out ski lodge.

Every week, pull your 100 battery, put it in the 62, and crank it.... you don't want the 100 battery dieing in the 62.

One step forward, two steps back.

Well everybody was out of my hair today, so I got up ready to put those Cruiser Dan parts to good use.

Plan A, R&R water pump. Plan goes great until I pull out last bolt. It comes out very hard, with most of the threads rusted to where you barely see the threads. Call Cruiser Dan and get new bolt. Might be here in ten days. He has to special order it then get it to me.

Plan B, R&R thermostat. Follow FSM and get to the point of removing four bolts. First one is a little tough so I add a little PB Blaster and will come back to it. Next bolt come out easy. Back to the tough bolt. A little easier to move then a lot easier. OH s***. That little bolt on top of thermostat housing should be a lot longer than that. Call Cruiser Dan and order more parts. Damn this is expensive!

Anybody know the best way to clean that green corrosion in the pic below?

Replace PB blaster with Kroil/AeroKroil from KanoLabs.com

Steel bolts into aluminum are the worst. I soak with kroil for a day or so before trying those kinds of bolts.

Wash the green parts off with gas and they should be fine. You can also clean them with a mild solution of muratic acid. Be careful.

Be very careful removing the connectors, especially the one in the top of the 2nd pic. They are brittle and very easy to break.
