Three out of four bolts for the thermostat housing broke off. I did ok on the connectors. They are very brittle. Thanks for the info.

sucks. I feel your pain. I ordered one or two of those housings from cruiserparts.net when replacing my head gasket a few years ago.

Ordered it today. Company is in Nashville. Lady on phone said some people buy it to resale but they do not keep track and do not have a list. Almost drove up there today and got it, but thought that might be a little obsessive.

Leo, I see you have a 88 FJ62. Who do you use for a mechanic? Were they in Memphis?
How much work do you do yourself?

Here is a pic of water pump. It looks like gasket had a small crack in it.

When installing new water pump is it easier installing with or without hoses attached. Any hints or advice would help.

I did not sealant and no hoses. may sure it is all real clean on the truck. Also make sure they are all good and tight or you will have to bend your arms in ways they don't like after you get it all back together.

I replaced all the studs with bolts for ease of install and then I knew that I would not have a broken bolt issue later down the road.

Well, I don't have a mechanic so I guess my mechanic is me, and that is why it is not running. I've isolated the problem to the fuel pump, but the PO put dual exhaust on it and one pipe crosses under the fuel tank to get to the other side, so dropping the tank to get the fuel pump will be harder. Once the weather cools, I'll come up there to help you if you will come down here to help me. :D

Broseph from a different Moseph, access it from inside the wagon through the hatch. taint gotta drop the tank

Can't remember. I followed the FSM.

Gotta drop tank for the pump. You may be thinking of the fuel level sending unit.

Droping the tank isn't that bad. Spivey and I droped and re-installed mine last weekend in about 4 hours.... it's a 50 gallon tank.

Oh, my b. It can be done on an 80 (what is an 80?)... after seeing greg fiddle with the send unit, I just assumed the pump could come out that way too...

Deal. As long as we never go on a side trip to get charcoal. My wife hates charcoal.
