Think whoever messed with it last didn't set the pre-load right or something. You can turn the drive shaft about 90 degrees back and forth with it in the air. Tight when it's on the ground. Luckily a good friend has a spare. Gonna have to roll with it for at least a week or two though. Hopefully it won't lock up.

Wanna come over for a wrenching party?? :wrench:

Possibly... If the wife comes with we'll bring the 4Runner. If not... Do you pick up hitch hikers? :hhmm:

Well, went to try to go register Marty today. Got to the bank that's right around the corner from the house... Now he won't start. Great. Thinking it's a battery issue but not sure. Wifey is on the way with some jumper cables.

Had a couple people interested in the truck. We'll see if anything pans out. If I could sell it now and not lose money I would. If I put more time and money into it I'm going to keep it.

So, the battery died and I swapped in the Optima from the 80 to get the truck to work today. Seems now I have a bit of a surging idle. I didn't touch any of the vacuum lines or anything so I'm thinking maybe the idle adjustment... I'm going to try to clean the throttle body one night after work and adjust the idle and see if that helps. It seems to be fairly intermittent sometimes it's smooth and sometimes it's fluctuating between 1000-1500.

Hmm. Rough idle seems to have smoothed out on it's own... Not gonna question it...

So my plan is to see if I get any bites on the truck before GSMTR. If not I'll get the spare diffs and get them installed when I get back, re-do the timing cover with FIPG this time (should have done that last time), and put some brake drums on the back. That should make it fairly drivable. Gonna need to see about the AC soon though. Summertime in the south is not a good time to have no AC.

Rough idle/surging could be coolant temp switch being dirty, easy fix.

Yeah I know there are tons of things that can cause it. It must have been related to the battery being swapped though. It seems to have sorted itself out and I don't want to jinx it...

Something about "if it ain't broke"
