It’s a brand new ignition switch from cruiser corps. I’m going to dive under the dash and see if the mice got into it
Good idea. Sitting like that for years who knows what kind of condition the wiring is in. It might just be a good idea to just replace it all and install a new wiring harness. That's what I would do atleast.

Turn the key to the "Run" position and check for voltage going into the ballast resistor and coming out of the resistor.

I have another harness on its way to harvest for non brittle connectors. Great minds think alike haha.

Got me a set of pizza cutters for it today. Just need to get the wheels cleaned up and painted before I mount them up.

Yes they do! 👍 Personally if it was mine I would take the body off the frame and run new brake and fuel lines as well..two things you never want to leave untouched! The build is looking great and those tires sure are a nice touch.

Every rubber piece in both of those systems will be replaced with new. I’m going to flush the system out the best I can before it leaves the shop, which I’m hoping is this weekend 😎

Lots of work done over the weekend. I got the Fj60 4-speed and t-case installed. Boy did that suck balls. The assembly is awkward and hard to keep somewhat level even with an adjustable tranny jack and using my lift. But i got it in, along with a new Aisin clutch, TOB, pilot bearing, etc.

I installed a new alternator. had to modify the bracket, but made it work.

After changing out the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, etc, i left the shop. Came back and noticed the passenger front blinker was on for some reason (not blinking). It was weird. I removed the fuse and it went off. I need to sand the contacts where the bulb fuses go, because its acting cray cray.

I put on all new radiator hoses and heater hoses and filled with water to make sure i didnt have any leaks, and surprisingly there arent any.

Still cant get it to start though, without jumping the coil. Does anyone know what these two capacitor/boxes are in the engine bay?

This one is on the passenger side fender next to the coil

And this one is on the drivers firewall below the clutch master cylinder. Its in pretty bad shape and id like to replace it, if i can find out what they are and what they do. You can see the blue wire is chewed up from mice.

I was hoping to drive it this past weekend, but ordered a clutch hydraulic hose thats about 5" too short. I ordered another one today and should be in on Wednesday. That will give me a couple days to install the Pertronix kit and get it running right before i try driving it. And by driving it, i mean 10ft forward. I still have to do the disc brake swap up front and swap in the FJ62 rear end. Im picking up a 60 front end to use the outers from on Wednesday.

I think I figured it out. My black and yellow wire to the coil must have a crack in it somewhere as I jumped it from the ignition switch to the coil with a wire and it started right up. The pertronix ignition was once again an easy install. It runs super rich and I think needs a timing adjustment. But it runs. I’m going to run a new thick wire from the switch to the coil. One thing off the list. Getting closer to driving this thing.

Ordered a new voltage regulator to compliment the new alternator.

Still looking for whatever is on the passenger fender above.

If that relay on the fender has three wires probably the horn relay. One will have 12 volts positive all the time. One wire goes to the column that grounds when the horn button is pushed. The other goes to the horns.

Picked up some parts yesterday for the disc brake conversion up front. A fj60 front with high steer and an 80 e-locker 3rd. An 80 non-e-locker rear (missing rotors), and a spare fj62 front housing. Im only using the outers off the 60 front so the rest will end up for sale. I thought for a second of putting the e-locker in the rear just because. Still might. Im looking for a set of fj60/mini truck stock steering arms because i dont plan on converting to power steering or going spring over/hi-steer on this one.

Tinkered with Lucille last night during the heavy rains we received here in SE TX. I received my new (to me) harness from another cruiser and spliced it in to my chewed up harness. I now have working headlights, side markers, blinkers (that dont blink)etc. When i hit the flashers, they blink, but i cant get them to blink using the stalk on the column (high lights also work). I dig into that later.

I popped the carb off in preparation for a rebuild and also popped of the valve cover to install a new gasket and repaint. I was surprised how clean it was under there. No sludge or anything out of the ordinary.

The Holley definitely needs some help. It floods straight through and when i took it off, the intake manifold has a substantial amount of fuel in there. Hopefully the rebuild fixes that. From what i can tell, these carbs dont have a return line for fuel.

Excellent work!! I have a '73 that I'm gonna start prepping for the same sort of garage spa treatment. Mine is a runner, but it needs disc brakes and I have minitruck power steering I'm going to install. Some of my electrical needs to be looked at (no wipers), but all in all it is pretty stock except a Holley carb which might get tossed.

I will be checking on your progress. Looks really good so far!!

When you rebuild your Holley, get a bunch of Pine Sol and soak all the bits in it for a day or so. Definitely leave the metering block and the main carb body in there for as long as you can and then go through it with carb cleaner and some compressed air. Also be sure to check all your flat surfaces with a level or a ruler, the bodies on these can warp over time. I just rebuilt the Holley off of my 85 F-250 and the pine sol did wonders. Here's some before & afters:

Make sure that before you use the pine sol that you take the carburetor apart completely. It can break down the plastic parts of the carb so be careful.

Nice job on that rebuild. Just regular ol pine sol would work?

Thank you! Make sure you get the original stuff, not anything scented. You can actually see the bottles I used in the background of the first picture. :)
