Short story is it is to help prevent the spreading the cedar root fungus.

Muddy trucks can easily drop dirt or pic up dirt along crossing few water run off path spreading the disease further.

And yep. Just try and get any dirt off. Years past it was the flares on the 80 they had the most build up. Now flareless seem all my dirt collects in labs bumper.

What a "smokin" trip.
We had a good time despite the smoke, did not need to break out the albuterol. I was just mentioning to my wife how I have managed to use minor trail spares/ fluids to help others and how it was good Cruiser karma when low and behold I discovered a leaking power steering line. I guess I am even in that department. Thanks to Kief for the power steering hose, it made for a much nicer drive back to civilization.
