I've been having a similar prob w. mine. Bled... no dice. Fluid on carpet/shoes. Probably eating my paint off and rusting in my driveway when I'm not watching.

Replaced the slave and master, partly out of laziness, partly for preventative reasons (it was a 30 year old part). slave was $12 at NAPA. Master $32 or something. Not Kragen, and despite what some say, I'm fond of NAPA. Especially as I'm near NOTHING and having a parts house at all is super convenient.

It's a very easy repair save for mucking around in the footwell trying to hook up the linkage to the pedal.

On the OEM master the rod has two (2) nuts, an adjuster and a lock. On the NAPA deal, only one. The adjustment is only done by turning the fork thru which the bolt attaching it to the pedal runs. This makes fine-tuning a huge PITA as you gotta remove the durn thing form the top of the pedal every time to turn it a few more rotations and take up the slack in the pedal throw. Damn!

As my carpet is full of burs and brakefluid and even my skinny fingers have a hard time reaching up under there with my back all contorted, it kinda sucked and I left way more slop in the pedal than I wanted. I'll have to fix it, but at the time I was over it.

Not sure it's worth the extra $$$ but not sure it isn't either. If I didn't HATE the Toyo Parts Morons at the dealerships who know bugger-all about old stuff, and they were closer than 200 miles away, I'd probably be there buying the OEM shizz.

Makes me pine for the old days of ancient Volvos with the most helpful parts dept guys ever. (I'll stop the rant) Buy from people you like. Makes things so much nicer.

That said, beware the infernal adjustment on some reman master cyls.

The NAPA unit works fine. Still functions as it should, just that it was a bastard to adjust just right, so I didn't. And wish I had. It's only been a few mos since I changed it though... Check back in a year.;)

Quick question for everyone...

It's a bit hard to shift in to second and first.... When moving... Could it be the bushings? Ive heard of people changing them with heavy duty ones... Or do I have my stories mixed?

oh and so far master cylinder holding up just fine...

1st gear is not syncro'd so it's supposed to be hard to shift into when moving... If 2nd is just as bad, you may need to adjust the rod to the master cylinder towards the front of the vehicle to get the clutch to disengage a little more, or your 2nd gear syncros could be worn down some...
