Funny thing is that no one "shares" who the gear cutters are. Notice that? Everyone "knows" but no one provides any more information.

Any one want to take a guess?

;)

I heard, Joint-Fuji, no idea if that is true, but they did make some of the original transfer parts and gears.

Joint-Fuji is not an OEM supplier to Toyota. They are an OE aftermarket supplier. I confirmed this with them via a phone call last month (amazingly, someone who spoke English answered the phone!).

I talked with one of their engineers who said that they were, at least at one time. The subject was older stuff, IIRC, split case transfer.

Beno, not sure but i was told on the phone from one of the Marlin guys that they found an OE gear set that Toyota already "Manufactures" and just found that it fit this application.

With that said... I"M IN on a set!!

Definitely a possibility. That being said, the folks down under were the first to do this modification years ago.

This really makes the most sense why other outfitters are able to source and sell the same thing. So at the end of the day, Marlin is just reselling an already existing gear. Not that there is anything wrong with that, just seemed like everyone seemed to think there was this major, magic, extremely expensive 'Murika R&D that are involved with his gears. Either way, whether this is true or not, Im sure its a solid product.

If Marlin isn't interested in your group buy, hit up EBI. His retail price for the average joe is your target price for the buy, for what sounds like, the same product.

I spoke with bugsnbikes today about this group buy. We are looking into some details and I will keep him updated so he can pass it along.

We have been selling our gears since 2011. It is funny how many companies have popped up in the last few months offering cheaper gears or gears made by the same “Japanese supplier”.

One last thing to consider when installing our gears is to convert to a part time transfer case using our newly release spool.

I had a great chat with Dave today and hopefully conveyed that theres quite a market for 80 "stuff" development as evidenced by interest/ numbers in this group buy.

One good bit of news that i found out is that theres a bunch of the Marlin Crew that are 80 owners ! which is very cool!

We touched on topics of "doublers" along with this Spool/Part time kit etc and i hopefully conveyed that as the 80 becomes more "Toyed" with......theres a nice market of us dedicated enthusiasts ready to support quality products.

More details to follow on this group buy coming soon.....

BTW i was not insinuating in my last post to try to go around Marlin, just that this gear set seems to be a gear set that will not disappear if a local gear cutter goes out of business or stops production. That is refreshing to me. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Good for Marlin to do the homework and find these gears and give the 80 that crawl that it needs to be completely bad A$$!

@bugsnbikes can you give us any more info on possible time frame for this group buy?

Marlin is in the process of contacting their supplier to see how fast the next batch can occur. Im hoping to hear something by the end of the week. '
