So, I got a sticky note on my 88 FJ62 at work yesterday saying I should join up with you all. Anybody want to fess up? None of my friends would admit to it - although the smiley face at the end was pretty distinctive. I guess you guys are doing a run tomorrow - I won't be able to make it, but I hope you have a good time and I would love to see some pics.

That was me! Lol. Saw the 62 sitting there all in it's glory, it looks great. We need more 60 series rigs in the club. :) Glad you signed on to check us out, come out on a run and tell us what you've done to that beast, as well as other cruiser related stuff. I was looking at your rig thinking someone was going to come out and shoo me off of it, I have been looking for a slick way to mount some offroad lighting to the front of my rig, but the winch is kinda in the way. I think the way you mounted the lights on your rig fits the bill, and I will be looking at some form of that on mine as well.

Love the screen name, you must be from the south? I'm a Louisiana transplant, so I've heard my share of bubba and boudro jokes, Haha. -Luke

Not truly from the South. Call it my parents' sick sense of humor to nickname me that after living in Lower Alabama for too long.

Anyway, sent you a PM. I'll show you the issues I'm having with those light tabs though.

New 72' FJ40 owner

Hey all, so like the title says I am a new owner of a 72’ FJ40 in C/S.
I have been on the tech forum for a couple of days trying to figure out a front end problem, so far no luck.

Who would you all suggest I have look at it in the area?
One member suggested a shop called Red Line.

Here is the link to the thread I have going on the issue(s).

Thanks in advance!

Very nice to meet all of you guys at the meeting yesterday. Thanks for voting me and my family into the group.

Not in an 80 Series yet, but on the hunt for one

I'm new to all things LC related. I come from having been a Jeep XJ (Cherokee) guy for a long time. I've had several stockers and finally got the 4x4 building bug last year. I built one up as a family wheeler and it ended up getting stolen last summer. The XJ had several shortcomings and in my months of research I am convinced that the 80 Series is the right rig for us. Here when the finances allow, I hope to pick one up, baseline it, and start the mods. Looking at: 4" lift; 35" rubber; Some sort of winchable front bumper with stinger (I might have to add the stinger after the fact); Rock sliders; Skid plates; Roof Rack; Rear Bumper (not sure about a spare tire mount or not...might just throw the spare up top in the roof rack).

I forgot to mention - I'm in Castle Rock. While I am without my own 4x4 at the moment I have a few friends down in the C-Rock are with Jeeps that I can catch a ride with, so I will be watching out for rides that you guys put on. If anyone is willing, I would love to ride-along and see what an 80 is capable of for real...not just my online wheeling and research.

Welcome. I was in your same boat about a year ago. I also did a lot of research and found the 80 series to be the one. I came from a Range Rover classic, and before that a Jeep. While I loved both those vehicles, my LX450 fits my needs a little better.
I'm keeping the lift at 2" and 285s for mine. It's going to be our family adventure/camping vehicle.
Good luck on your search.

Dan

Haven't seen it - pretty confidant that picture wasn't taken in or near Colorado Springs.

The photo was taken in my back yard in Southern Georgia where there is a noticeable absence of mountains.:)

Pueblo 80

I just moved here a few weeks ago and bought a high mileage semi-built 96 80 a couple months before that.

It's got a miss in cylinder one that eventually I will hopefully track down. laziness and inexperience have got the better of me so far though.

Hopefully I can meet up with some of you soon and explore the hills.

Cool man, that's a good vehicle to come to Colorado with. Hope you get that cylinder miss fixed, I know how irritating that can be. Keep searching the 80 forum on the main site, chances are, someone else has had that same problem down the line. Welcome!

Cool truck - it the intense green and deciduous trees that tipped me off!

hey guys thought I would introduce myself. My name is Nathan. I'm from colorado springs. I currently just have a 95 4runner that is fairly stock and will stay that way (love it but want a real LC that is worth modifying more). I'm looking into getting either an FJ55, fj60 or a fj40. The fj40 being my favorite by far but also the least practical for what I want to primarily use it for. (overland travel). I could probably make it work with unique storage solutions though.

You can certainly join and come out on runs with us, several people have 4runners. Don't let the lack of a "Land Cruiser" keep you from coming out. These guys are not afraid to share their opinions. Start a thread about your needs and vehicle options.

Oh by the way, good thought on getting your amateur radio license.

New guy out of Colorado Springs. Picked up a '97 80 and I've got the bug... Bad.

Open to wheeling trips pretty much every weekend.

Welcome! I've had the 4wheeling bug for 18 years, it never seems to go away :) keep tuned in, I'm going to put a new trail run schedule for 2013. My weekends are booked up for the rest of the year, otherwise I'm out darn near every weekend.

I'm usually always open to head up into the mountains. I'm free most weekend although ski season will steal a lot of those soon. I'm in pueblo but send me a pm when you'd like to go. Even better if its an overnight "expedition"

Definitely looking forward to the 2013 schedule.

Shawner, might do a day trip this coming Sunday. I explored Mt. Rosa just past Wye Campground yesterday but really don't know how to get to the good spots, yet. Any recommendations?

I'm in the process of procuring the cold weather camping necessities and I'll certainly take you up on that soon. Would love to find some "way up there" spots. The harder to get to, the better.
