The Support Crew!

A few pics of the support crew, and I'm heading to bed. I will try and post more pics tomorrow, but I am heading to Little Rock at Noon. If anyone would like to see any specific pics, OF THE TRUCK NOT MY WIFE, let me know. I have over 500 pics/vids.

I would like to post a vid from Drummond. Can you do that on this site?

Nice rig. Keep the pictures coming.

Looking at post #20 second picture I'm see a column shift linkage I've never seen before. Destin's look like what I'm use to seeing in the later three speed. That's not what was used on the earlier three speed either. Just never seen the block use as the anchor point for a shifter. Always been the motor mount:hhmm:

A bit more history

Thinking back I missed a few alterations/mods.

Adding to the list....
3 speed on the column has been moved to the floor.
4 core hi-flow radiator
updated clutch and slave cyl.
updated gas pedal and linkage.
New brake lines

These modifications once again are "bolt on" mods and I still retain all the original stuff.

The only hole's:doh: that I had to put in the tub were for the new gas pedal.

So back to pics.

As I said earlier the reason for not creating a "build thread" is simply due to lack of time/laziness, and the fact I knew it wasn't going to go fast. Destins thread is great due to how fast he is going. Destin if you are reading this, BEAUTIFUL TRUCK!:smokin:

During the years of work I was doing the voyeur thing and gleaning all the info from you guys. Buy the way THANKS!
I never could have done it without this site and all the help from its members.

Parts

I would love to know how many "individual" parts there are on this truck. Maybe I'll try to count them on my next project.

Best investment for a resto.

If you search long enough, or have the $ for a new one, a sand blasting cabinet makes short work of the small stuff. I paid $400 for mine with a side door and clam shell top. It has a work area of 24 x 36. It most definitely saved enough time to pay for itself.

Fasteners

I was overwhelmed by the number of fasteners needed to complete my rig. Coolerman has a great thread listing a ton of them for his early 70's 40. I wish I would have kept track of all of mine.

I still have most of the original bolts, but they are not categorized:frown:

Due to my lack of initiative and patience I decided to replace all the old fasteners with new. Not to say the thread, pitch, and length was not correct. I just changed the head and material where I thought it appropriate.

I used stainless, button head, black grade 8's, etc. where I thought they would look best.

To the point. When restoring your rig you have to stay organized. My company has an account that renders a huge discount on fasteners. If anyone is interested in me sourcing some for them let me know.

Original and restored!

Having a short attention span the "restoring" of some of the smaller bits drove me nuts.

So I had my daughter do it!:p

Looks good nice truck!!!

Great job! That's a fantastic resto you've done there. I love that you're out driving it and not letting sit in a garage. I'm getting ready to order the SOR seat covers/foams for mine. How do you like them, how do they sit? I'm sure the new foams make a huge difference.

Couple other questions for you:
-How's that pro-comp lift working out? I'm looking at 2.5 lifts and want something with good on-road manners as mine will be a driver. The price on that kit seems reasonable.
-Love the tires. Are they 10.5 or 9.5 wide?

Again, great looking rig!

-Ed

Thanks for the comps guys. I'll be posting more pics later this weekend. I've got a poker run to attend today.

The seat covers and foam are great. The difference is black and white compared the the original.

The Pro Comp lift is great. I'm very happy. I re-build the entire front end (new tie-rods/ends, steering stabilizer, rebuilt the center arm, etc.) and it drives like a dream on, and off the road, even without PS. I plan on installing a mini-truck PS setup later.

The tires are 33 x 10.5 BFG Mud Terrains. They don't make a "33 x 9.5", but you can get the same size if you go metric. That is the tire I originally wanted, but I'm quite happy with the 10.5's.
