It been a long time in the process (6 years!), but she is officially on the road. I drove in to get the new windshield installed last Friday the 4th, and couldn't stop smiling all day. I drove her approx. 100 miles the first day and found the only thing not working correctly was the fuel sending unit. After having the wife bring gas we were off.

Most (smart)people wouldn't have taken their newly restored rig out for a field trial, but I believe thats what they are made for.

The date: Saturday September 5, 2009.
The place: Drummond Island, MI (UP).
The goal: To see if she does what she's supposed to.

Many more pics and posts to follow.

Enjoy!

An a few shots from the rim of the mine on the way to the trails.

Trail Time!

A few pics in the woods. Drummond Is. has over 200 miles of trails and an ORV park. I took a few easy ones to ensure everything is running well. I'm going back up in Oct. and will attempt some more difficult ones. These have quite a bit more water and rocks, but nothing that could do any serious body damage. I'm not ready for any sort of body work after I just got her on the road.

First Pic: Dad as co-pilot
Second: Me
Third: My daughter, Morgan, gettin' her feet wet in Lake Huron.

Yes I did use the $OR seat covers and foam. I find them great. I had a pro put them on for me, so the install was a breeze if not a bit costly.

A few final pics of the MV

Lastly, for this trip, a couple on the old ferry landing and the St Mary's River.

One of her on the ferry back to reality with everyone else's toys.

nice:D

Did you spend 2 hours power washing it clean afterwards? :D

Almost exactly 2hrs. Just finished the final wash this afternoon. I am posting the "clean" pics next.

"Clean" Pics. and Befor/After

I am going to post a few more pics of before and after. Kind of a build thread/post but not.

During my resto./mod I have been negligent in posting pics for no other reason other than laziness. I was either working on the rig or relaxing in my spare time.

I would like to point out a few things that I have done on my rig during the past couple of years.

To set the stage for the traditional true resto. guys, let me start by saying that any mods that I have done are "bolt-on" and I have kept and restored all the original equipment.(down to the hubs)

I bought this rig out of Cali. near Sac. in 2000. When she arrived she was all original except for the following:
Fiberglass from a 69-72 (no vent)
Single barrel Rochester
Early 69 motor (I would pay for anyone with info. on a motor F189737 to match my VIN)
Wagon spoke wheels.

She was not cut on or damaged. I have since located the correct fiberglass with the vent.

I have added the following MOD's:

2.5" Pro Comp Lift
33" BFG Mud Terrains
Eaton wheels
Warn Hubs
Headers
2 barrel Aisin Carb
Electronic Ignition
Painless Wiring Harness
High Output Alternator
Warn M8000 winch
Custom front bumper/winch mount - 1 piece

I also took the 3 on the tree and put it on the floor. If you can get a hold of another trans hump to cut a hole in it, I would recommend putting it on the floor. I love it.

Every nut and bolt was removed and replaced. I did not use the OEM bolts. I used newer style bolts with the same specs.

Yet to do.....

I need to install the hard top (when it starts getting nasty).
I have yet to install the wipers, windshield vent, ashtray, and I still need to connect my EB.

I will now stop yacking and get postin' more pics:p

Fantastic.

Great looking rig.

Where did you score the signal lenses? They look new.

The lenses are new, but I can't remember where I got them. I bought them 5 years ago. I will look through my paperwork and see what I come up with.

Running Boards

nice rig!! i am needing to refurb my runnin boards,,,, can i see pics of yours and what did you have to do to bring them back?

Once again I know it is not the original material, but I believe that black wears a bit better than white. As you can see from the pics she's not going to be a trailer queen.:p

In the beginning....

I could only find a few older pics from when I started. I didn't even have an internet connection at the time. MUD was not even in the picture. I will scan more as I find them.
