some results:
unofficial speed test was 0-60 in 13 seconds.
what tire size are you running and what gearing? 13 seconds is phenomonal, i am impressed to say the least, now stick some propane injection on and hold on tight...
;^)

wayne-

285/85/16, stock 4.11 diffs, and the marks offset for their high range output.
a/c belt is not hooked up, but minimal power loss I'll guess.

Jeff Bryant has thought the 1,200 egt reading may warrant a pump adjustment to prevent bad news this summer when temps exceed 100 F. gauge is west tec dual type.

propane or a maarten special turbo?

I am now "lc cash" broke, so other mods will have to come in a few months...

that is very impressive, i noticed that if you increase the boost much of the black smoke will decrease as well as the EGTs will drop.
i of course would suggest the propane since i have tried it and just love the results.
i have not run the turbo you are suggesting so i can not compare...
cheers and congrates...

What did you use for motor mount frame brackets, custom fabbed??

I just had to go back to your install as I finished the 60 series 1HD-T install and it is by far the fastest cruiser I have driven, could only imagine how fast your 74 series must be.....

thanks wayne-

I still need to troubleshoot everything for a long haul. Injection timing, valve shims, etc, need to be worked out. My first trip has to be to nor cal to install the lift and cable lockers. Riemer and I got the truck years ago on a fluke- GR had asked if we liked a truck how to pay for it? and the buyer in japan bought that truck that had been in the originating email. Those were the good ole days when we were getting bj74's offered everyday. Other than a pto, it had nothing trick about it. semi float rear, 112K, a rust spot above left wheel well (no worries in dry az). I have a set of 78K cable lockers and a belton kit to get put on at Icky's.

For those that did not notice,

hzj7X parts:
used alternator 24v
apron (new)
air cleaner can
washer bottle
rhd ps cooler/hp line
radiator (plastic late model)
used instrument cluster w/ cable lock hzj tach (dr. stedman)
motor mount frame brackets
vacuum hard pipe on inner fender and clutch boost tank
rhd a/c lines off compressor
h55 transmission + bellhousing
wire harness pieces
...and yet to install, rear heater hook ups (non north am, non aussie parts, ugh)

hdj78/9 parts:
clutch
fuel filter/prefilter rhd systems
fuel tank pick up
firewall fuel line and first frame (only pick-up troopie available)
turbo accordian pipe
air cleaner top
turbo hot side outlet
primary head pipe (uses donut/spring compression mount)

(I would have liked the combo vacuum/water cooler line behind the water pump, but it would have taken too many weeks to get ...so I "JB welded" the standard water pipe to a hzj vacuum pipe)

t-case has new hardware ($30 my cost)

I calc'd $8700+/- US plus offset by selling 13B-T, and I did beb, install, t-case oh, wiring, etc myself. exhaust should run $600-$700, and a/c system should be under $200.

cost conservative conversion would still run $6,000 + labor + sale of 13B-t (add $4,500 to costs and this means using converted original tranny/transmission)

metal frame mounts:
hzj 75 north american parts- one side is US, the other is offline but an ENS part.

turned the fuel screw 3/4 of a turn out (lean) a week ago- no smoke, a little less lighting under the tires but better fuel and much lower egt's.

18-22.5 is miles (US) per gallon these days. I also now have a belton lift and cable lockers with my skinny 285/55/16's.

rick, if those temps are post-turbo, then you definitely need to dial down the pump a little. You should almost never go over 1200 PRE-TURBO, so if you are seeing those kind of temps (even briefly) post-turbo, then you are in the danger zone more often than you care to imagine. It'd be a shame to harm that beautiful diesel-drinkin mill. Good on ya!!!

Rick... that is amazing, you nearly sourced every part factory for this build.

Sounds like a heck of a shopping list.
