Nicely done.
How many miles driven since reinstall?

Great to hear this worked for you! I couldn't pass CO emissions last year and this was the last resort before going with new cats. Thankfully it worked. I do have P0430 showing back up now, but I suspect it's from bad gaskets on the passenger side. I screwed up my order and haven't gotten back around to popping the new ones in yet.

I'm waiting for replacement Bank 2 Sensor 1 (Denso 234-9051) o2 sensor to arrive. I'm running a cheap amazon sensor at the moment, and bank 2 fuel trims are higer than bank 1. I'm gonna chalk this up to being a cheap sensor, and it should even out once I install the Denso unit this week.

I'm about 300 miles in - very satisfied so far:

I don't recall. Did you find and correct the cause, CAT failed (clogged)?

Bad MAF, 20 year old o2 sensors, oil overfilled.

I’m impressed that after years of being poisoned they can still be regen’d.
Bad MAF, is the one I see kill most CATS. Which, typically those CATs, burn up.

Indeed, prior to replacing MAF/o2’s etc I noticed the exhaust on the truck was very hot. It melted the trailer brake light on my mototote rack.

We’ll see what happens long term, but I’ve never seen my truck pass any of the catalyst efficiency monitors in the past 6 years.

@zipdoa how are your refurbished cats holding up after the recent diy resto work using Citric Acid/Oxalic acid bath you did on them?
Did the P0420/P0430 CEL ever came back? Thanks.

P0420 eventually returned after about 3-4000km. P0430 gone.

If I did this again, i'd use an ultrasonic cleaner. My method lacked sufficient agitation, imo.

That said - I read in @J1000 's thread that these $200 MangaFlow 334006 hiflo cats pass the ECU checks in 06-07 100's, and they're CARB compliant.

I'll probably move to these, might even see gains along with DT headers and a Borla exhaust.

I don't recall. What did you do to test and correct, the upstream cause of CAT failure?

Oil overfilled is best guess. Was running Rotella T6 5w40 so maybe additives?
If a lot of raw carbon (oil or fuel) enters CATs. The CAT(s) can ignite. This burns out CAT(s), and they trash.
Here's burnt out CAT, Due to, bad MAF dumping fuel into CATs.

I've heard of two issues overfilling oil:
  • A little over maybe about 1qt -+ over. Reduced MPG
  • A lot over maybe something around ~3qt + over. Possible hydrolock, bend rods or blown head gasket..
Bent rod(s), I suppose could effects compression.
Were or are you seeing smoke and now run poorly?
Have you checked compression?

What are fuel trim, while cruising steady ~65MPH?
What's ECT running winter/ summer??

You've a VVT 06-07. Have you check the S.A.I. filter?
Replace or modified S.A.I. pump or system in anyway?
