Ordered my seat leathers from LSeat through Amazon on April 19 received them today May 9th. bisque color matches the original 97 LX450 leather very closely.

Since the new year, I have been ready to redo the interior in my '02 LX. I requested swatches in order to get my color as close as possible. My LX is Black exterior w Tan interior by the way. Received my response from Lseats that said "OK" on JANUARY 22ND. Had stated in my request too that I was ready to order as soon as I got those swatches.

Here it is March 23rd and I have received absolutely nothing.................

(other than the "OK" from their automated response generator)

How do you run a reputable business like that?

Any suggestions guys?

Thanks in advance.

Wow. The reviews are really mixed. I got my swatch card with all colors in about a week. But still may go with cordura from Marathon out of Bozeman. I hear the leather install is a tight fit and need hog rings and the special pliers.

Could someone confirm if you need special tools to install? Approximate time to install?

about the only tools that are not standard stuff would be hog rings and hog ring pliers.

And I would recommend finding some fairly small gauge hog rings.

Time spend well that would be impossible to answer everyone works at there own speed and care level of doing the job. How far are you going to go. Are you removing and replacing the foam with new or steaming the old making foam inserts yourself. How fast do you turn a wrench are you just cutting the old stuff off or removing it with care.

If you just pull the old leather and slap on the new I bet someone with some skill at mechanical work could do it in 4 ish hours with minimal interruptions if he has never done seats before.

Ordered bisque color leather front seats from Lseat on May 28. I have tried calling twice and left messages with no call back. I emailed with my order number asking for an update and I got a one word email response. "Confirmed". Still no update on shipping or anything. I assume they are on a slow boat from China.

Mine showed up in two weeks. I installed the passenger side a little while ago, there was a little learning curve. Took me about 5-6 hours, but I made sure I documented how everything came apart. I expect the driver's side will take less than 3 hours. The only tough parts were figuring out how the seat back panel came off (reach in with your fingers, push down on the top clips while pushing in on the panel), and getting the clip on the part of the upper cover that wraps around the bar at the bottom to stretch into place so the clip fit. Both of these will make sense once you dig into the seat. Follow one of the posts here on MUD and you'll be fine.

The leather is not overly tight that would cause issues putting it on. There is one clip on the seat back (as I mentioned above) that takes some stretching, that's it, and it is literally the last thing you do installing the covers. I'd never touched a hog ring or the pliers before doing the one seat so far, and it was not rocket science.

Here is my passenger seat from Lseats, installed. I steamed it a bit, I expect most of the wrinkles will come out within a few nice hot Florida summer weeks.

How long did it take you to install? I did my passenger seat last weekend too and I think it took me at least 6+ hrs. I love the way it looks but I'm dreading doing it all over again on the drivers side, especially knowing I'll need that seat the next day. Maybe I'll tackle it on my next day off.

atxrunner,

I ordered mine from him on June 8th and pretty much just forgot about it. the general consensus is that their customer service is non-existent...but everybody seems to have gotten their seats whether its 2 weeks or 6 weeks. In my opinion the price is worth the wait.

Man, I'm not looking forward to spending 4-6 hours per seat on these. haha.

Not looking forward to that either. I have already spent the last few nights replacing all the swaybar bushings in my driveway.

Do you know if there is a writeup on replacing the leather on the seats?

I haven't found any write-ups yet, but if you find something please post up. I'm wondering what could be so tedious on these seats that could cause it to be 5 hours per seat. I'm wondering if you need to disassemble the whole damn seat. the back, motor underneath, etc... so maybe just a lot of parts need to come off to get the bottom leathers off/on.

There is a decent write-up that I stumbled across awhile back that I vaguely followed that showed some steps I'll see if I can find it again and post it in here.
Basically removing the seat and separating the seatbacks from the mechanicals was the trial and error part. Removing the hog rings was pretty straight forward I didn't have new ones to replace them with so I ended up reusing the old ones which took more time because I had to bend them back into shape.
Technically the second time should go much quicker since I won't be wasting time trying to figure out the dismantling, and won't have to resend the rings since I bought new ones. Take pictures of things before you disassemble, that definitely helped when putting it back together.

I used these...

It took 5-6 hours, but that was because I was going slow, making sure I understood how it went together and took photos. Next one will only take a few hours.

Only 4 bolts need to come off to get the seat bottom pan off the frame. But there are all sorts of hog rings to remove, wiring to move, plastic bits, etc. Since most of us don't work in upholstery shops, going slowly is time well spent. It's hard to mess up, but if you do, you are buying new covers.

The Lseat covers are no doubt a good value (for the money). I suppose my only concern with them is that pretty much every installation I have seen here on the forum appears to have the covers fitting rather loosely compared to the OEM covers. I don't mean 'wrinkles' in the material from shipping but just a loose fit.

No aftermarket cover fits tight out of the box. Factory seats have been baked in the sun for a couple decades.

Lseat are your best, and pretty much now, your only option. Land Cruiser Heaven seat covers were crap - cut short, stitched badly, missing clips, backing was basically cotton batting, not anything close to the factory material. Had to return them. Lseat are a world above those in terms of fit, craftsmanship, and material feel.

My '16 Mustang needed the leather seat covers replaced when it was brand new (dealership detail shop damaged them). They were wrinkly and baggy in a few spots for a few weeks, until the heat of the sun shrunk them up some. It's the nature of the product.
