Has anyone actually purchased some Marks gears directly, and had them shipped to the US? I am an AA dealer, and even at my cost the gears are $$$. I have sold several sets over the last couple years, all with great results... I want to put them in my 40 (no driveline room for a Toybox), but I don't want to shell out so much $$$...

If someone comes up with a cheaper source, let me know!

I did--sort of. I was going to order direct and spoke to them, they said no problem. Instead, my brother happened to be going over to that neighborhood and I got him to buy them for me and take them back, saving me a little bit of shipping. Marks charged me their usual OZ retail rate, which AT THE TIME--three or four years ago--was about half the price it cost to get them from AA. Cost me about $800. It was a huge splurge for me, but now I'm glad I did it. However, now that the dollar has tanked, it may not be such a deal to do it that way, I dunno.

Even at that time they were very careful making sure it was not going to the US directly as they had a distributorship agreement with AA not to sell them in the US. We ended up having an Aussie I highly trust buy five sets of gear and shipping them here himself. The deal with shipping and taxes was about $850 per set total. But that was the time when an AUD was about $0.50 USD.

Yes, at least that is what I asked gifu to pay for his. If you can convince an Aussie Vendor the items are heading overseas, you can ask to waive the GST.

GST == Goods and Services Tax. Expensive, and only applies to residents of the country. So if the goods are going out of the country, the tax is not required.

Yes, what polarweasel said. But if Marks4WD ships to a destination in Oz, unless it is a retail outfit, they have to charge GST. If you pick it up in person within Oz, they have to charge GST. Now, they won't ship directly to the US (at least they would not) due to the distributorship agreement they have with AA. So maybe it is best to buy from an Ozzie retail outfit, I dunno.

Maybe Marks can ship without GST to Panama .. but the price of the ship .. result more than GST jejejejeje
