Low pressure power steering hose replacement other than OEM?

My guess, they are metric? Every aftermarket application guide that I have seen, calls for 3/8" (~28") & 5/8" (12"), we have done tons of them and had great fit/results from those numbers.

This is the reservoir fitting, not exactly 5/8", but much closer than 3/4"?

So the metric ID's are 9.5mm and 16mm?

I would guess, 10mm and 16mm, the 3/8" is a hair tight, but works fine, I would prefer tight to sloppy.

I need to change my initial response based on Kevin's calipers. I went out and measured and sure enough the hose is 5/8" so I'm really sorry about creating confusion. I will edit my posting.

The top of my engine is laying(scattered) on the floor of the garage at the moment. The head is back on and I am trying to get all of the hoses replaced before I put the intake back on. Luckily, it is not my DD so there isn't a huge hurry.

Thanks!

Sorry to revive this older thread, but I hated to start a separate thread to ask the same question as the OP. So far I've called Rockauto, NAPA, O'Reilly, Carquest, Advance Auto, and Autozone looking for the stoopid 12" long 5/8" ID hose for the reservoir-to-pump hose (OEM 44348A, IIRC). NAPA guy said he USED to have it, but doesn't show they carry that any longer. I would greatly appreciate anyone who can point me to a source. Thanks all.

Also, Carquest DOES have a "multipurpose" hose that is rated for fuel, but I read in a couple spots that it'll break down with use for TOC. Thoughts?

Search http://www.rockauto.com for ACDELCO Part # 36350030 it's $12.78 plus the ride, 42" so will do three rigs, share with Cruiser buddies?

Gracias!

Search RockAuto | All The Parts Your Car Will Ever Need - http://www.rockauto.com for ACDELCO Part # 36350030 it's $12.78 plus the ride, 42" so will do three rigs, share with Cruiser buddies?

The line needs to be TOC (transmission oil cooler). The return requires ~28" of 3/8", from rockauto.com a 3' length (ACDELCO Part # 36361970) is $6.90. the reservoir needs ~12" of 5/8" (ACDELCO Part # 36350030) is $12.85 for 3.5'. The pump kit (EDELMANN Part # 8826, yes it includes the motor o-ring) is $10.18. A box of 10, #1 Gates clamps (GATES Part # 32001) for the return lines is $5.40. So, the whole thing is $35.33, plus shipping and a couple of quarts of P/S fluid.:meh:

First, a moment of silence for the absence Kevin. :frown:

Second -- Kevin had found this AC Delco hose Part # 36350030 to replace the larger hose from the power steering reservoir. In another thread he provided links to rockauto but they don't appear to work anymore. And I have been unable to find this AC Delco part by this number anywhere.

Does anybody know another way to find it? Anybody know what application it was for?

I have found where people are now using Gates 3/8 400 psi transmission hose for the 3/8 return line.

Like this one-- Gates 3/8 hose

But I can't find an equivalent 5/8 hose for the larger hose. And I don't think the OEM is available anymore either. But I should double check that.

Thanks

Jared

OEM is available for the larger hose, I went to napa and they had 5/8 hose rated for trans oil. It’s a low pressure hose so no worry for a psi rating just need the material to standup to ATF/power steering fluid.

All the above

Search for power steering or transmission oil cooler return hose ie: 5/8" Continental, DAYCO, ---
