Hello everyone & thanks for help in the past.
Dropped My 94 wagon off at the local shop for some basic work while on Vacation.
Now Idle is way low & Cruiser stalls whenever I brake or stop.
The 02 sensor had popped out, so he re mounted with new studs & gasket, also welded a small leak back the rear mount (which he replaced).
Replaced the air filter.
He let the battery go dead & trickle charged it back up.

I've started it a dozen times and driven about 50 miles ... still low idle.

Share the brain power !!! AND Thanks again.

it should relearn it's settings. The truck needs drive cycles which is more than miles or the number or starts. It's a specific set of criteria that need to be met. Just continue to drive it and it should work itself out.

you might want to check that the intake hose didn't crack when the air filter was replaced .
The other thing is you may need to drive it more since even starting it a bunch of times it my not have run long enough in a closed loop setting to relearn everything . your looking at under 5 miles each time you started it so thats not enough time to get everything set up

So, is there not a way to adjust the idle manually? Mine has always been low since putting in my K & N filter...

You can fine-tune the idle, but that's about it.

BTW, get rid of the K&N. Personal experience speaking, there is not a single advantage to using one in these trucks. In fact, the only thing I DID notice was a gnarly build-up of oil in the intake tube, and I had never re-oiled the filter.

Really? Not trying to steal the thread but, is it detremental? Or just not advantageous (other than low idle lol)

Not trying to hijack, but, there are more advantages to using an OEM air filter as opposed to a K&N. Search up on it, you'll find a bunch of threads.

Anyway... to the OP...

I'd check the intake tube between the air filter housing and throttle body. It's more than likely got a big crack in it, and in many cases, is very well hidden.

Just in case, isn't it possible that messing with the 02s has somewhat affected the harness? Our rigs are prone to this kind of failures.

Back to the Idle

Thanks. I drove about 35 miles one day, 5 & 10-20 the next. Started it several times & let it idle (when it would).
I'll keep the cell phone & jumper cables with me & keep driving.
At what point should I just accept it needs a fix & take it to a computer/ Tech?

might be your PCV valve/grommet/tube, they get brittle and crack or shrink so there is a big enough vac leak to throw off the brain and cause this too.

Pull the EFI fuse and see after a few starts if it changes.
Also is your gas ok?

Well, no luck. I pulled the fuse, checked it, attempted to start with it out & put it back in. Several start attempts, no luck. Tried to run it for a trip ... now it won't reset at all.
Any more tricks? I cannot even get it past a couple of intersection (trying to use neutral to avoid stalls).
Be nice if I could at least get it to the shop ... if all else fails.
Also, gas is good. If I put a brick on the acceleration pedal, it old until I take the brick off
Thanks again

You guys rule !!!

Well, as usual, you fixed it. And it was a crack in the intake hose.
On visual inspection & feeling, I could not site it. When I took it apart (thinking maybe he left a rag or something in it), in between the ribs was a hefty split. As a temporary fix, I washed the hose, dried it ; applied a seam of Super Glue. Once that took, I finished with thin cut strips of duct tape in the recess and kept working layers out.
Next question .... where can I get a reasonably priced replacement ? SOR wants $140. Dealer $150.

Thanks guys!!!

Wow, that was easy (r). Mud is a great place to experience breakdowns in. ;)

I have one for sale. Not sure if I posted it on Mud but here is the link. I am asking 50.00 for it so that should be attractive to you.

80 Series Air Intake Hose - Rising Sun Member Forums

Based on your Zip I would ship to I would guess no more than 55-60 dollars total shipping and part.

Sorry for the HiJack.... :grinpimp:
