Awesome. Things that I'd be interested in seeing and may help you sell the taller guys on this shelf would be:
1. A picture of a guy 6'1" or taller in the driver seat (maybe just hold the camera at eye level from the driver seat with the shelf installed.) personally reduced vision was my first thought being 6'2".
2. Pictures of the visors. Although maybe selling a simple bracket for guys to reuse their factory visors might be easier.
All FWIW. I love the idea of having storage up there. Can't wait to see it installed.
I am in as well. I'd like to see photos of the finished product installed so I can get an idea of how far down it will come but I'll probably do it either way. About the only thing I don't like about my 80 is the lack of storage space around the driver's seat. This will help solve that problem.
I'd also like to see a completed installation guide for the hard ceiling (simply detailed pictures of the installation process on this thread would be great) so I don't screw it up.
Akella, are these going to have the metal internal frame/mount setup for the center section like the earlier pics you posted? I'm in for sure, I can't wait to get one of these.
Because its been asked, here is a pic of the trans gauge pod painted using the VHT paint I listed. You can see it against the pillar and the handle. The color only looks off because its more reflective then the pillar and handle.
It's funny, I was driving around when I first got my cruiser recently and I looked up and said, there should be a shelf up there. A few days later the thread showed up. It just seemed like there was a lot of room up there going to waste.
So I guess that might make me "in".
I was thinking though at the time about A) How would you make it to keep stuff from falling out of it when bouncing around, and B) it could be bad in a serious front end collision to smash your head into the thing.
