Hi SoCal cruisers,

After deciding to buy a FZJ 80 last Sept., I was dispatched to abroad and just got back home!

I heard the beautiful Silvercruiser's rig has gone and felt so~ sad.

Now in the market again and try to find a well-maintained, well-MODed with $15K+ budget.

During search, I found some interesting rig
1) 1996 CUSTOM Toyota Land Cruiser - $17500 (Santa Clarita) on Craig
2) 1997 FZJ80 from Slee() - $24.5K :crybaby:

The first one's color is not suitable for my 10miles DD and the second one is way far from my budget though both look great. :)

Anyway if there is a garage kept good one, please let me help to go outside!

Color : don't care but white prefer
Trim : Lifted, Lockers, Leather, Bumpers, Armored, etc welcome

I think that first one is Cruiser Larry's (Dirty Parts) old one.

X2. I am sure it was meticuously built.

As far as the slee rig, for all that money, you would think that it would come with the FOR lift .

I hate to say it, but Silvercruiser's rig would have been the one for you!

Good luck with your search!

Thanks guys.
The two 80s are just for my curiosity and mod-cost estimation purpose.

I'll lurk in FS forum & craiglist for well-modified toy one.

SOCALFJ: I wish I could do it from the scratch...

I would have no problem buying a cruiser in the MUD Classifieds. You are buying one from someone who cares about the vehicle, probably kept it well maintained, and has worth while mods that they spent much more on then you will by buying it with the vehicle. Just check it daily or a few times a day. Heck, post a Want To Buy (WTB) thread stating what you are looking for and they can find you.

I was going to buy one and build it up (like I did with my FJC) but it just makes no sense from a financial stand point. I spent months waiting for the right one though and when it came I pounced.

If the first rig listed was available and I was looking I would heavily consider it.

raYGunn, I agree. You live in Irvine like me?

Mod will cost a lot and Time is Money too.
F&R Bumpers will be almost 2K, slides 1K, suspension $1~3K, and etc... will easily reach to $10K(including labor cost).

The first one looks very nice but I don't want to make my neighbors' eyes pop out ( re-painting will cost a lot 2).

Buying a built one is always going to be cheaper, but its also a lot of fun building your own. Lastly when you build your own, you know that for the most part it hasnt been wheeled.

yup mods will cost more than buying one that's already built. depending on what bumpers you want but just one can easily take you over $2k. Luke's bumper, that's if you want it built and ready to bolt on, slee's rear bumper, lockers and gears are easy $5k, etc, etc. supercharger?

i think being patient will pay off. wish i was

We'll all have to keep an eye out for you here in the OC!

Gotta agree with comments that it'll be cheaper to buy a modded truck. That being said, half the fun is doing the mods yourself.

Shoot - the mods on my truck are worth more than the truck at this point, but outside the lift, I've done all the mods myself over the past 5 years! Took a stock truck to SnT in 2004 and, as they say, the rest is history. Darned expensive history at that.

I received two seller's proposals and the last one was very attractive.
However the color of the rig was so stand-out and built quite a long ago, I turned down it.

It will take more time to meet a nice lady in the Classified. alas...

Seriously considering a scratch-build plan again.
