One Bilstein 24-235310 damper on my 2014 LC started leaking after 100k+ miles. These were discontinued in November and I've been unable to find them in stock anywhere. They've been great and I hate to change brands or go to a smaller piston. Anyone have a pair laying in a corner of their garage they like to sell?

If you're the original purchaser, Bilstein will rebuild/replace them for free. Have you called them?

Not sure if this will help or not, but the previous owner of my 200 installed the Tundra 6112s on my 2008 and they are great. Possibly those are still available?

Yes, I contacted Bilstein's warranty administrator by email and received the following response. Apparently their "Lifetime" warranty ends with the death of the shock. Admittedly, 100k+ miles is a long life for a shock, but I buy a new Land Cruiser every 20 years whether I need to or not, and purchased Bilstein in large part due to the strength of their warranty. Apparently their marketing is better than their warranty.

Hello Scott,

Thank you for your patience, after taking a closer look at your warranty submission I can see that your shocks have been used for quite some time and a substantial number of miles. Based on that it is my professional opinion that if you were to submit your shock into warranty it would fail due to normal wear/tear. With that being said this is not a denial it is just a warning, If you’d like to still submit your shocks please provide me with more photos of the shocks including top and bottom mounting points. Thank you.

Hello Scott,

Thank you for contacting Bilstein of America. I am sorry to hear you are having an issue with our products and even further that your distributor no longer has that product available. I am sorry to inform you that the photos didn't come through. Can you please try sending two photos at a time, maybe this will help and please fill out the attached Warranty evaluation form in its entirety. Please do not mail in any products without being issued an RGA# first. I'll provide a summary of what I need to process your warranty claim below. Thank you.

- Proof of purchase
- Completed warranty evaluation form (attached)
- Pictures or video of issue in question

The 6112 series for the Tundra and Land Cruiser include both the 24-235310 struts and (at least for the Land Cruiser) E4-FD1-Y308B00 springs together as a set. The 6112 series struts are sold separately, too, as replacements. Unfortunately, this part number was discontinued in November, and no longer available from any of the Bilstein dealers I contacted.

Sorry to hear your luck. My 6112s are nearing 100k miles as well, and I have been nothing but happy with them. It looks like the complete coil overs are still available, I guess Bilstein has just decided that they don't want to sell anything but a complete coilover anymore. I am sure there is more profit there for them in that configuration. At 100k miles there might be some benefit to replacing the springs anyway?

I may have to do that – replace the struts and springs as a package – if I can't locate struts, although until the damper piddled in my driveway I could find no evidence of degradation.

Bilstein will rebuild them for you, for a cost. It's been awhile (10 years?) since I had them do it, but it was something like $75/strut or shock when I did

Here's the latest info: Front 6112 strut and spring assembly part 46-206084 that included strut part 24-235310 has been superseded by 47-310971. According to my distributor the design for manufacturability has changed. The spring part number is unchanged. The current production run of struts is completely allocated to those kits; individual struts are not available. I purchased the new kit from Excel Suspension, which was very helpful in getting details from Bilstein. The lift, on my 2014 LC, is now approximately 3/4 inch above stock, although I didn't measure that carefully. I've submitted the warranty claim to Bilstein and will report back.
