I want to swap my std inner axles and birfield of my 1986 lj70 Bundera for longfields.

But i cant find out what to order ? witch axleset of longfield wil fit straight on ?

I would be very happy if someone can make it clear for me(as im not to smart tecnicaly)

Hi All:

The CV ("Birfield") joints are the same - it is the length of the inner axle shafts that we are unfamiliar with here in the USA (no 70 Series sold here.)

So, the Longfield CV joints will fit in the front axle of your RJ70, but you may not be able to get up-graded inner axle shafts.

Regards,

Alan

Oke thanks Josie !!!

So can i take the longfield 30 splines Birfield,s/cv joints and keep the std inner axle shaft ?

And wich one do i have to order ? the ones for the;

1-Pickup/4runner

2-FJ40

3-FJ60/62

Step by step im goint the right way !:clap:thanks verry much every body for the helpfull advise !!!!:steer::clap:

Nope, the 30 splines need the special inner axles. The regular 27 spline longfields will fit on the original inner axles. But with a 2LT you're not gonna break birfs unless you have a front locker and a very, very heavy right foot.

If you get the measurements of your existing axle shafts, Bobby will make you ones in the correct length. I have contacted him about upgrading my Troopie's axle shafts, and that's what he offered up.

None of his existing shafts will work with your cruiser, they have to be custom cut:meh:

Why on earth want longfields for a lj70 running 8" axles?

Surely 1st option should be to upgrade to 9.5" axles and then think about longfields.

Hi(from Norway),

i can help you if you have a little time. I have a LJ 70 frontaxle(assembled), a HJ 60 frontaxle disassambled and either 27/30 splines Longfields and the axleshafts that belongs to them. And the TG stuff too. The new ones belongs to my boss, rest is mine.
In week two of 2012 i will do some work on my daylydriven 88 solid frontaxle 2,4L Diesel Hilux. Part of this will be the comparison betwin all of this, only to confirm what i tell and sell to my costumers.Until this it will only be guessing(but it worked until now:)). Only one thing is what i am asking for: your chassisnumber to confirm that your car and my donor have the same ............roots. I can figure this with toyodiy.com.
And after this will it be easy to get the right stuff from Mr.Long:)

If I had LJ70 and I will ( sure I will ) swap in already an 1KZ-T engine with 4.88 gears to move something like 37" with front lockers I'm pretty sure that 4340 birf in a 30 spline set will be in my wish list ..

And just for note .. I don't see any advantage from longs over Nitro sets ..

Tapage i hope you right about advantage longfields/nitro,s but the research i have done on the wordwideweb show other results(guys breaking a lot nitrogear then take longs and have zero breakage)

1kzt is also on my wishlist:clap:

(offtheway i dont live to far from Panama !)

Really .. would be interesting if you share those links .. would like to read those ... I'm happy nitro 30 spline set user that I've tested few times in Tencha, locked and chained with good experiences by now .. and excellent customer service but that jut my experience.

where are you dude .?

I wasn't able to locate any thread that said Nitros are bad .. any case I can't said Longs are bad ( I've been using the old 27 spline set in the past without complain .. ) .. actually I can't compare both, but order from Bobby site it's a huge pain .. actually he don't accept international CC neither paypal, and that drive me to buy Nitros with great customer service, support and product .. I have 'em in Tencha, used and abused and so happy so far ..

Why not go for Birfield from Marlin Crawler? Their website is easy enough to use and accept International CC.

I been contemplating a reply to this for almost 1 week.

No, way I would go would be to replace the 8" axles with a set of 80 series 9.5" axles. Then consider longfields.

Maybe you have reasons not to go for the 9.5" axles, I dunno.

Okay here are the numbers written on the silver badge on the fireplate:

8b4fa11g142g52 is the number on the bottum

and lt1volj7009001982 is the number on the top of that plate.

If yoy need more info let me know !
