I've got my cruiser and am super happy with it. Am considering picking up a 2nd one for my girlfriend. Is it worth the money to get lockers? I don't have them but don't wheel enough to need them. She drives a lot in the snow in winter, but that would be the extent of it. Should I look for one with lockers, or save some money and get one without?

I think the bigger question is "is your girlfriend worth an 80-Series?" My advice is to save that kind of commitment for marriage. You're going to set expectations that you'll have to live up to forever. Ease into this relationship thing. Leave yourself some room to grow.

But if you do get one with lockers, give her your old one.

Locker should only be needed offroad. The lockers would actually make on road driving in snow worse!

Like stated above, just find one in the best shape possible. Lockers can always be added in the future if you want to start doing more difficult offroad trails.

Buy the lockers, ever notice how everyone puts Lockers on their profile? Even if you never use them, they make it easier to sell to the next person.

If she's only driving in the snow, I would get her a Pink Jeep.

Ummm..... if we are talking about stock e-lockers or ARB they aren't always on so how does that come into play.

The OP stated,

So therefore I stated that the lockers are not a good idea to drive around town in the snow.

Sure, but I read the question as lockers or no. Because there is winter time driving involved I wouldn't base that on a decision between the 2. Just don't use them in the wrong condition if you end up with a nice locked 80. That's all.

A pink Barbie jeep at that.......................

Yeah... ^this^ !

If you do find one with lockers, giver her the other one, and keep the locked lc.... she will have no use for them anyway...

Amen. Sweet Lord Jesus, AMEN. Been there, done that. You don't wanna go there. (Btw, where the hell were you to give ME that advice 20 years ago??:flipoff2:)

And if you do decide to cast this fatherly wisdom aside and learn this lesson the hard way (like so many other men have), then just get a decent one for a decent price, irrespective of lockers- she will not use them, for the same reasons that 99.9% of the original owners didn't. (And if the one you find does have the lockers, keep it. She will not use them. Did I already mention that?)
