Top Of The World!!

the first time we saw the view was the first day we made it to moab , i thought my world is complete. great pics and what a great story. This Site Rocks Thanks Woody from myself and my family

however, to reach such beauty, there is occasionally a price to pay....so, a damage update...

- Fuel Pump Bob sheared off the 6 studs and 2 pins for his rear full-float axle on his 60 series....fortunately, he carried some spare parts....

- Roger popped the rear diff in his blue FJ Cruiser....since he's the EMT of the group, we banded together to get him back on the trail. Fortunately, the East Coast Trail Team carries a spare rear diff for just such emergencies! I tried to stay out of the way, but Gustaf, Sylvain, Gary, Dan, Mike, Roger, and I all banded together to get 'er back on the trails.

damage pic....IIRC, we counted 8 GONE teeth, and some pinion damage too!

Tell him to put it in 4wd  so he won't hold you up breaking his junk.

It was a rare pleasure to join you all for the first day and night of your expedition run on the Kokopelli Trail. Wish we could have been there for the whole trail. From the pictures of day two it looks like you had some carnage that allowed some extended appreciation of the fantastic scenery!

We are in Tucson and will be heading to Mexico for the Baja 1000. Perhaps this could be an expedition for next year. Attached is a picture from our Baja Expedition last year.

Kind Regards,

Chris Cole

Sounds like you all had a great time. Can't wait to hear/see more.
If I'm not traveling (like was the case this time), I'm definitely going to make it next time.

Made it to the Land Rover Dealer in time!

Hi folks! I made it to the Land Rover dealership in Glenwood Springs at approx 5 minutes after 4, so I was right on target! The trip was rather white knuckle, as I had to make up lots of time.... 80 on a donut spare tire through the curves made for some interesting manouvers! My DSC light came on a few times, but, got there no problem.
After getting a new (used) tire put on, I hit the highway, and made it home EXACTLY 24 hours after leaving you folks at the Moab Brewery. I slept about 1.5 hours at a rest stop, and did eat 2 meals.

I am working on getting the pictures on line, some are quite amazing!

It was great meeting and wheeling with all of you, I hope we can do this again very soon!

the kokopelli expedition was like being offered a big piece of cake. no way i was going to turn it down and it was great, i ate it up.

so once again i had a wonderful time. it was a pleasure meeting, eating, driving, and sharing a bunch of fire side hoo-ha with all of you folks.

i hope you all get home safely and that the wheels are turning for a follow up expedition.

happy holidays and have a warm winter.

fp bob

oh, and a big HONK for ya gustav!

Thanks to the TTT’s for putting the Kokopelli Expedition together, never a dull moment. Also thanks to everyone for their patience with turtle trailer team. It was a pleasure putting more MUD names with the faces of some good people.

Made it home to AZ by 9PM without damage and 2 pounds of Utah dust. Now if I can only figure out where we went…this area is big.

- Fuel Pump Bob sheared off the 6 studs and 2 pins for his rear full-float axle on his 60 series.... AGAIN! fortunately, he carried some spare parts....

!

Fixed it for ya Woody! Or did Bob not tell you that part of our Canyonlands adventure?:frown:

So is there gonna be a professional write up on this in an upcoming rag somewhere?

3-4 folks are workin on various articles...I need to go thru my pics so I don't accidentally put any online that need to be in the rags....

took about 550 photos....figger 4-5 outta be decent...

:) Best event, ride, views, folks, rigs, weather(most time) ever!
For a first time expedition type ride organized by the the East Coast Trail Team(Gustaf, Woody(Brian), Garrett, Troy and James) it's gonna be hard to beat.
It was great to be part of a group of people and rigs so organize and ready for the worst, even the first morning 17 degrees couldn't bring this group down.
For my first time out west I was overwhelm with the views and the landscape created by nature.
My trip started Monday Nov. 5Th at 3:AM in Atlanta where I flew to Grand Junction, CO....
Me and a 50 pound duffel bag full of camping gear and everything I would need for 6 days not including food got there around 9:30 am to be greeted by Gustaf at the airport and there it began.
Meeting everyone there as they drove in was great, who would know that a truck(FJ Cruiser) could bring so many great people together in such a beautiful place.
The first day I rode shotgun in the Trail Team's Sun Fusion(very familiar feel) which give me a chance to take in as mush of the scenery as I could with James at the wheel to humor me...and then pretty much took over their silver FJC.
This was a mild to medium ride with a few hard obstacle and some nice river crossings.
We as a group took care of all the repairs needed to any truck that broke except for the flat tire(puncture on the side wall) on the LR3 Land Rover.
Lesson learned...Don't go wheeling without a full size spare, a donut won't do it.
It was amazing how much food everyone had with them, the IRON CHEF was just amazing!
Special thanks to Gustaf for thinking of this idea and making it a reality, but let's not forget the rest of the trail team for their commitment to the success of this expedition.
Did I mention that Woody get an award for having 4 extra sleeping bag, one of those kept me from freezing....Thanks Woody!

Thanks James for this picture.
I now have a new group of friend that I will never forget!
And I expect to see everyone of you again next year if not before...

If you missed this event, let Toyota know about it and make sure they do it again.

Thanks everyone again!

Sylvain

First, THANK YOU to the East Coast Trail Team for allowing me to join you for this historic - first ever - Toyota FJ expedition. I learned a few things on this trip that I'd like to share.

Woody doesn't wear long trousers until it's down below zero (F). At 17 degrees his blood still runs hot.

TCAO, Arctic explorer (at the same temp) is dressed up like Nanook-of-the-North and is sitting in his FJ with the heater on.

Oh, there's a lot more to share and you'll be seated ringside. Stand-by.

More links to pictures please! I had a great time!
I drove Woody's 80 series out and back with 9ersgirl for a co-driver. Woody's truck (now named Gretchen) did an admirable job of toting our thousands of pounds of our crap and woody's crap. We made it back to Oshkosh at 6pm last night. I can't wait to see all the pictures.

The list for my 62 has grown to make it ready for next opportunity to do this.

What a great time! It was good to meet all of you and we had a great time wheeling in some awesome country. Thanks to everyone for the patience and support of the Trailer Trash Team, we kinda set the pace (slow) for everyone. I was impressed at the crap we dragged that thing thru, without damage. And Rose Garden Hill, what a mother....

Thanks Phil for being a Top Notch spotter!!

I don't have permission on this forum to post more than like three photos at a time but I have some stuff posted (more coming) HERE.

Here is CRAZYHERMIT fording the Dolores River for the second time I think - maybe the third time - I lost track.
