Was driving for 30mins , pulled over, rpm started fluctuate, engine died with no engine light whatsoever, wouldn't start , 5 mins later it started like nothing happened!!!!!
Only thing I can think of is coils..no?
If so, how would I know which one?

Help please.

If coils, it would usually run but rough. Completely shut off and no dtcs, I would look at fuel, especially the fuel pump.

What year and how many miles?

I have a 2006 and I had to same problem. It was an overheating fuel pump and replacing it solved it.

my guess is something charcoal canister related. Mine has done that before.

I have also had it happen. Once. While driving. Just shut off, pulled over to the shoulder and it started right back up. Never figured out why. Started a thread to see if it had happened to others and a few said it had. Problem never repeated or revealed itself. Maybe the fix is starting a thread on here about it...

The only thing I could think of is I ran on empty tank ( cruise range =0) and right before I filled it up, poured octane booster on the tank. Could it be it??

So wait, you were at zero, dumped in a whole bottle of octane booster, then drove to the gas station to fill up?

Gotcha. No that wouldn't effect it, but i wouldn't use that stuff. Using it will guarantee your engine won't knock, but it is really just a waste of money. (Engine knock isn't really an issue in these motors anyway. They will correct timing for octane burn rates) Sounds like you just ran her empty. Did it happen during a turn, braking, or under acceleration? Maybe just sloshed around the last bit of fuel so the pump pickup couldn't get suck it up.

Well this is what I thought but it happened again today, so I shut it off and started it 15 mins later it was fine. It usually happens when I pull over or at stop.

Octane booster is cheap where I live and our gas doesn't happen efficient octane that's why I added the booster.

I will finish this tank this week and won't add the booster next time I fill up and will see.

Hints: it's been 110 and above degree here and very dusty

Sounds like charcoal canister.

Did you check your coolant level? Where in the world are you that it's 110?

P.S. I'm glad I'm not where you are...

It reaches 122 F the other day. I am in Saudi Arabia.

Coolant is good. Just added extra fan front of the AC radiator to have cold air coming in. It's doing great job so far.

1meancruiser, how often did that happen to your truck?

it happened a half a dozen times over a three year period. all of them at or above 80F temp outsite, long drives and heavily loaded. I have not had the issue since replacing the fuel pump...

How did u diagnose that the fuel bump was the problem???
I would like to confirm it is the fuel bump before replacing it. Is there a way?

One way i diagnosed a fuel pump problem was that it did die on it's own while running. At a stoplight. Wouldn't start afterwards. Temp was 101, so yeah, heat might have been a contributing factor. Within the last 10k miles, I replaced:
1)EFI Relay
2)the EFI fuses
3) Fuel filter
4) starter.

So I was able to safely rule out those items.

My next magic trick was removing the gas cap and crawling under my LC and giving the fuel pump a gentle kick. It started after that.

The telltale sign is the engine will turn over and the starter will crank, but there won't be a spark that starts it because of the lack of fuel. From there, you can sort of isolate it to the fuel pump, fuses or relay.
