Lift gate latch parts?

Has anyone been able to source parts, or just complete lock assemblies? My latch stopped working, and it looks like a small plastic piece is the culprit.

amazing that this tiny little plastic part is all that transfers force from the latch handle to the latch itself

I'm going to try and make a new one. and see how that goes. Otherwise, its looks like about $175 for a new latch mechanism

Didn't even think of that because I though there wasn't one on the hatch... I'll have to double check that when I get home later.

finally got around to repairing this, small piece of brass, and a #8-32 allen head bolt. A #6 would have been better, I had to file out the channels for the #8

looks good - should outlast the previous.

However I just used an m3 bolt, nut and a bit of blue Loctite. 2 months and 10000km later and it’s still working perfect (keyless and key). Will report if it fails

I know this is super old but what did it take for you to remove the latch mechanism for the lift gate? I broke off the metal handle so I have two nubs and I need to replace the entire thing basically.

The most difficult part is getting to it. You need to remove the trim. I'd suggest doing this in a warm shop. Otherwise I think you will end up breaking a lot of the clip retainers.

Alibaster, is this what you broke? If so it just slides onto the nubs.

Nah I broke the ends off the nubs. Plastic is fine. I might just JB weld it for now.
